Today we’d like to introduce you to Hedda Jason.
Hedda, can you briefly walk us through your story- how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Great design has always been my passion. A New Yorker at heart, I have a degree in Fine Arts from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, and previously worked as a graphic designer. My knowledge of the arts transitioned to fashion. For 20 years as the owner of Moselle on Montana, one of the top fashion boutiques on Santa Monica’s Montana Avenue, I helped clients select that perfect dress or pair of jeans to meet their needs. I would also assist them in purchasing an entire new wardrobe with all the “ bells and whistles” .
Simultaneously I owned a shoe salon next door. I designed both boutiques many times over the course of twenty years keeping them current with the latest design trends. My favorite thing to do were the store windows and floor displays. The window display is very crucial to reflect the image of the store. It is important to attract the customer as they are walking or driving by to entice them to come in to visit and shop. I now bring that same dedication to style, design and personal service that clients enjoyed for years at Moselle to the home with JuxtapositionLA.
JuxtapositionLA is a natural evolvement born out of my devotion to making clients and their environs uniquely beautiful and special. My years of experience, attention to detail, love of color, texture, design and display have made the transition from fashion to home staging and interior design a natural for me.
With home staging it is very important to know who the potential buyer is. I take into consideration many things. Is the buyer a single person, a family, are they middle income or are they affluent. I stage each home with the buyer in mind so they feel comfortable and can envision themselves living there.
Whether your needs are to stage a vacant property, owner-occupied property, or merely to de-clutter and give the home a “punch” before it goes on the market, we offer a variety of services. I have furnishings to stage a variety of architecture from traditional, modern, contemporary, transitional, mid century and can accommodate any budget.
While we specialize in staging new constructions and flipped properties, we have also extensive experience with owner-occupied properties. JuxtapositionLA offers distinctive designs to transform an empty impersonal space into a warm and inviting home to attract buyers who are most likely to purchase the property.
Has it been a smooth road?
In any business, there are always ups and downs. The decision to close Moselle was not an easy one but I was ready for a change. I realized that interior design was my new path and I was up for the challenge. I started out with concern, but I was determined to make it happen. Like most businesses, I began small. My inventory was stored in my garage. As it grew my neighbor generously allowed me to use her garage.
From there I rented three spaces in a personal storage facility totaling 450 square feet. I was very proud of that space. Two years into staging I was very busy and bursting with inventory. I now have a 2000 square foot warehouse that my friends always want to shop from.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with JuxtapositionLA Home Staging – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
JuxtapositionLA prides itself on customer service. Having owned a store for 20 years, my success there can be attributed to my excellent customer service. I think that is the most important ingredient in any business.
Without a satisfied customer, your business will not thrive.
When I started JuxtapositionLA I knew I wanted to be hands on.
What may set me apart from other staging companies is I am at every installation and I make every selection of what goes into each property. I am completely involved from start to finish, first by providing a complimentary Staging Proposal, selecting all the furnishings and accessories, and I am there the day of installation and de staging. Another key to my success is I have an excellent team of professionals who assist me in keeping everything running smoothly and efficiently. I couldn’t do it without them.
I am most proud of the satisfaction of my clients. I primarily stage new construction and flip properties. My clients have a large investment and want to see a quick return on that investment. So when a property sells quickly and over asking price, that makes them and me very happy.
I am especially proud to be apart of the process of people finding homes to build memories with their families and friends.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love the diversity in our city. A little bit like New York but with palm trees. From its people to its landscape, its architecture and food.
Like most people living in LA, what I like least is, of course, the traffic.
That’s a no-brainer! And I am a transplanted New Yorker!
