Meet Janine Micucci and Denny Beaubien of Production Elements

Today we’d like to introduce you to Janine Micucci and Denny Beaubien.

Janine and Denny, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Janine: I have been working in the event the event industry since 1983. When I moved from Boston, I started working for my aunts’ esteemed event and catering company, Along Came Mary!. Mary Micucci is an event legend and shaped the event industry as we know it today. When I started full time in 1991, she hired me to find new business and produce the events I secured.

If I was going to be successful, I needed to look outside the entertainment industry. Cable television was a brand-new market, so I went after MTV, AMC and a slew of other cable companies that I began producing all of their events. Whenever there was a high-profile event coming to LA, I would go into full sales mode. In 1994, the World Cup Soccer event was in LA. I secured the FIFA account, as well as many other “sponsor” events like all the Gillette parties. When the Democratic National Convention came to LA, I secured all the events for Chrysler.

Another avenue we pursued were the many foundations in LA where we found clients looking for world-class fundraising events. We could bring our high-end party planning at a discounted rate and make our nonprofit friends very happy. For 20 years, this was the perfect place for me to create a strong foundation of clients, vendors, and team.

Denny: Started working in event production as a lighting designer in the 80’s in Montreal, Canada. Touring with bands he found California and eventually moved to Santa Barbara. As technology grew, so did Denny’s skills and he evolved as a technical and scenic production manager.

Denny’s was hired in 2000 to shore up the technical side of a local decor company and for 10 years he worked side by side the owners to grow their business. He produced large, high-end events all over the world. It was in 2010 that Denny decided to start his own business and Production Elements was born.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Events and event production are relatively young industry and we feel we have been a part its forming and growth. We struggled for a long time to form our own business together. We were about to make the decision but when the economy took a turn in 2008, it did not seem the right time to make that a decision. We have been self-training on how to run a business. Every year we learn a little more and every year we grow a little more. All in all, it’s been pretty smooth! (Knock on wood!!!)

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Production Elements – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
