Meet Sharon Poole Blair of Immaginare Press in Brentwood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sharon Poole Blair.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Sharon. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I love books! I was born in Los Angeles to English parents. In my college years, I focused my studies on writing and film production. She moved to London in her early 20’s to continue my education, work and be close to family. Once I returned to Los Angeles, I worked primarily in film production, home and interior design, and writing.

In the late 90’s, my husband and I formed Groove Addicts. Together we ran one of the top LA-based music production houses and created a production and trailer music library, which we sold to Warner Chapel Music in 2010. The continue to produce music with our current company, Grooveworx.

In 2014, I formed Immaginare Press. We publish art, photography, wellness, children’s books, and stationery. By building on the best traditions of publishing, we produce books that celebrate imagination and visual innovation in the crafts of photography, art, and writing.

Has it been a smooth road?
Publishing books has been a true education. It’s truly a production, much like making a movie. You have your concept, which follows a creative process, which eventually leads to printing. Well, I thought early on this could be done over a few months. I quickly found out it is close to a year. You have to have patience and really enjoy the steps to get to the finish line.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Immaginare Press – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
At Immaginare Press, we take our mission to publish beautiful books seriously because we love books so passionately. We pour over every creative detail, every design decision and we hope the result is always the same for each title regardless of category.

Whether we are printing a collectible photographic coffee table book or a cute children’s storybook, we always envisage a book that will stand the test of time. I hope that we stand with some of the top publishers in our approach and respect for the artist/photographer/writer.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Since I was born and raised in Los Angeles, I have a permanent love affair with our city, I grew up in the South Pasadena area, which was amazing.

I spent my early years around Griffith Park, Silver Lake, Los Feliz, Venice, Malibu and DTLA. I love our beaches, PCH, the Pasadena Freeway, Echo Park, Mt. Washington, The Getty Villa and the views from my home. My least favorite… LA Traffic.
