Today we’d like to introduce you to Sweat and Tell by Jacquelyn and Joanna.
Jacquelyn and Joanna, please share your story with us.
We’ve been friends for over 5 years, starting in college as sorority sisters. Postgrad, we both entered into the corporate world and found ourselves using fitness as a motivator and passion outside the office. We regularly worked out together and loved trying new studios, so our business organically formed into what it is today. Sweat & Tell is a positive platform to provide women with real reviews, inspiration, and tips to balance a healthy lifestyle. We understand living a healthy life can be challenging at times, especially when having a full-time job, but we make it a priority to exercise + feed our bodies with healthy food and products. We try it all out first, so you know what works best!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Since the beginning of Sweat & Tell, we were pursuing something that we were extremely passionate about and loved purely because it brought us mental happiness and strength. Not to mention, we got to do it with each other, which is always fun. We would be lying if we said we weren’t nervous about being so vulnerable to the public, our peers, and the unknown when starting such a public platform. Our friendship (and our family and close peers) gave us the courage and support to take the leap of faith. As far as confidence goes, we tend to be each other’s biggest advocates, but we aren’t impenetrable to comparison and insecurities. This day and age, we are polluted with edited images all over the social media that often make feelings of insecurity or discouragement arise in young women, including us. Sweat and Tell gives us the motivation to remind ourselves and our followers that fitness comes in hand and hand with self-respect, and we believe working out should be an act of self-love and effort to live a consistently balanced and healthy lifestyle. If we can positively influence even one person on their health journey to self-love, then we have done our job.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Sweat & Tell – what should we know?
Sweat & Tell is our way of spreading positivity and encouragement to those on their fitness journey. We use our platform to provide women with real reviews, inspiration, and tips to balance a healthy lifestyle. We understand living a healthy life can be challenging at times, especially when having a full-time job, but we make it a priority to exercise + feed our bodies with healthy food and products.
We’ve been friends for over 5 years, so we keep each other real and never hold back. We pride ourselves on being authentic, not only with each other but also with our followers. Anything we review we give the good, the bad and the ugly… this includes a few F-bombs here and there, makeup-less selfies, and all the awkward moments in between the “Insta-worthy” ones.
Which women have inspired you in your life?
One of the reasons our friendship is so strong is because we both have incredible relationships with our families, especially our mom’s. They have always inspired us to pursue what you are passionate about and to have a good time while doing it. They are our number one supporters (including commenting on almost every pic lol) and never fail to boost our confidence.
Joanna’s Mom taught her by example to do something that makes you feel fulfilled and happy, so you’ll never feel like you worked a day in your life. As a teacher, she has proven to be the most selfless and caring person to others, and especially for her family. Jacquelyn’s Mom always taught her that nothing replaces hard work and a positive attitude. If her mom didn’t prove that enough by being a doctor in the navy, she also kicked breast cancer’s ass all while having a smile on her face. Together, the lessons our Mom’s taught us inspired us to follow our passion and start Sweat & Tell.
