Meet Austin Green

Today we’d like to introduce you to Austin Green.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Austin. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I remember when I first started making music, I believe I was about 13. It was around the time when my grandpa from my dad’s side passed away. It triggered some depression I went through and I was young and didn’t know anything about depression because when you’re that young, you just think that you’re sad or something.

I started writing songs and remix’s over hip-hop/rap beats to whatever that was popular at the time. it made me happy so I kept at it. Just knowing that I was creating something that no one else has in the whole entire world and able to be happy that what I was doing was making me happy. Fast forward to 2011 when my dad passed from cancer, all I did was go to school, come home to work on music and sleep. I was in a dark place at the time and I pushed the music just a little harder, trying out new things and doing different types of music that would divide me from other artists.

So fast forward again to now, 2018, with a ton of heartbreaks and such after living in Portland, Oregon for a year, I decided to move back to California, to work on my new project. The beginning of this year, I worked on the project for 2 months and released my first official Sadboi EP. Which the title explains it all an am currently working on Still Sadboi EP which is a continuation from Sadboi EP. There’s no release date yet. Shout out to my son Quentin and my birthplace, Visalia, Ca. I wouldn’t be who I am today without those.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Honestly, in my opinion, I worked hard for this. I know I’m not where I want to be at now but I do know for sure that I want to be better than I am now. I never want to settle for good. Everything from engineering to producing, it’s hard work, very stressful but I do love it. Most people see the final product but never the effort and grind. Everything is made in one tiny bedroom goes a long way.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
Being an independent artist is awesome. No one telling to make any kind of music that I don’t want to and not having to change myself to fit in. I like being my own person and making music that others can relate to, as to depression and heartbreaks to life experiences. No one likes talking about thing like that but when you’re able to hear a person put it out into song form and knowing that you’re not alone is awesome.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I’ve always been super friendly. I always wanted to make everyone happy over myself first because that’s just who I am and how I was raised. I always have that genuine respect. But honestly, I was a loner in high school but I had my very close friends who are still currently around at this time. I call them family.
