Today we’d like to introduce you to David Krieger.
David, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
After college, I was a radio DJ in Philadelphia and an MTV VJ in New York. After hearing me on the radio, the owner of an event-DJ company recruited me. “We’ve got a lot of great DJs, but we can’t send some of them to do weddings, because they’re terrible on the mic. You’re GREAT on the mic! We can teach you to DJ!” Since listening to and playing music had always been a passion of mine, it seemed like a logical move, and that’s how my DJ career began.
It was part-time at first, but over the years, I got tired of working a “day job,” and in 2012, I decided to make it full-time. Seeing more potential for career growth, I moved to Los Angeles the following year and started freelance DJing for about six companies. It was going great! But as I continued to grow and hone my skills, I found that my philosophies didn’t always match those of the companies I was working for, so in 2016, I decided to go off on my own and start my own business.
Today, I DJ about 50 events per year, as well as several residencies at various nightclubs and lounges throughout Southern California.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Although I’ve enjoyed much success, it has not always been a smooth road. One of the biggest challenges of my business is the fact that my work is seasonal. I’m very busy in the Spring and Fall, but I seldom work in January or February.
Starting out was not easy, and until I learned to budget for these income fluctuations and anticipate the dry spells, I incurred a bit of credit card debt to keep me afloat.
Fortunately, business picked up over the years, and I have managed to eliminate it since then!

As an entertainment company, I specialize in providing a unique, transformative DJ experience for guests at special events. I am known for my passion for music and understanding the way it psychologically affects guests at an event.
I am hired by clients seeking a custom crafted musical journey, not your typical run-of-the-mill playlist of overplayed, boring songs. I believe music has a profound impact on people, even sometimes subconsciously, and I use that to manipulate the mood and vibe of the room to complement and enhance the overall experience.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
For the future, I plan to continue to grow Krieger Entertainment, slowly and modestly, by hiring additional talent. It’s important to me that I bring on quality DJs, no matter how long that takes. I also see myself taking on a more creative role in the future, including creating original remixes and music production.
