Today we’d like to introduce you to Gabriel Ervin.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My career began after my tour in Aviation Logistics as a United States Marine. I studied with Paul Chek at the CHEK Institute in San Diego, obtained NASM and ISSA certifications, and attended the School of Healing Arts for Neuromuscular therapy.
I have held positions as a personal trainer, massage therapist, fitness director, Vice President of health services and a consultant for health clubs across the country. In those positions, I designed and implemented new membership strategies, ran operations within the fitness facilities and built programs for the first Aveda Concept salon along with health clubs across the country. I furthered my content creation skill sets by attending the Art Institute of Colorado for multimedia production.
I have developed the first of its kind, personal training sales, client assessment and in-house, ongoing education platform. I have been mentored by the best in the fitness industry and deliver a truly unique training experience for my clients. After spending 20 plus years in client services I moved into fitness photography and multimedia design.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The biggest challenge was changing careers after a lifetime in fitness. My expectations of the level of success that I would have was a challenge. Coming from a successful fitness career and basically starting over as a photographer. It was a learning curve as well a blow to the ego for sure.
Please tell us about FWUEL.com.
So, I started my multimedia brand FWUEL about 2 years ago and it’s been an evolution since its conception. I work with personal trainers mostly building their digital brands. Having been a personal trainer for so many years I can relate well to my clients and help bring their personality out in a way their clients are looking for.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If I had to start over I would work on my workflow because so much time is spent in post-production. Streamlining internal operating systems is so important. As a photographer actually shooting is the smallest part of what you’re doing on your majority of the day. Most of your time is spent in data management and post-production.
