Today we’d like to introduce you to Christina Elmen.
Christina, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My professional journey started while I was still living in Michigan, finishing up my last few years of college. I pushed through my last few years, working full time at a bar and taking on a full load of classes with no break. While finishing school I knew that I wanted to live and work in a big city and take on a creative and fun industry. I graduated with my degree in Communications and Public Relations and a week later I drove across the country with nothing lined up except for an apartment and a roommate that I had met online. A few weeks after living in LA I finally landed a job, that only lasted a few months and after that I ended up working in health care for almost 5 years. I do credit this job for a lot of my success, everyone there helped mold me into a working professional. Once I finally had the courage to leave that job, not because I didn’t like it but because I didn’t feel fulfilled, I had to take a chance on myself to find that passion.
After some very bumpy experiences I finally landed the entertainment marketing position that I have now, I work for an amazing company with an even better team. From the moment I walked into the interview I knew that this position was for me. I have been in this position for just over a year now and it is still just as rewarding as it was the day I got the job.
I knew that once I was finally in a place where I was fulfilled and happy I could focus on my true passion and become an entrepreneur around my job. Recently, I have been able to take my love for marketing and creativity and turn it into my dream job. Currently, I am the VP of Community for Femargent, a platform for female entrepreneurs, creatives and professionals who want to advance their business. Along with working with Femargent I also started my own marketing company, MAE Marketing Agency, which stands for Motivate, Achieve, and Empower. Currently, we have clients in Real Estate, Beauty, Fashion, Fitness, and others in the works. I also work directly with Influencers and Brands connecting them as well as consulting in order for them to provide the best results possible on either side.
Lastly, I am also a blogger and influencer and I have worked with many brands including Paul Mitchell, Vanity Planet, Kollectin and most recently was chosen for a campaign with NYX Cosmetics.
I know that if I did go through the experiences that brought me to where I am today, I know that I wouldn’t appreciate the lessons and the successes as much as I do now.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I would be lying if I said this journey has been easy. I also like to look at it as though I am still on the journey, I am not learning and growing. I have encountered some amazing people along the way and some not so amazing people. I do credit, everyone, I have crossed paths with for my growth, whether they have been a positive and negative, they have all impacted me in one way or anything. My advice for other women starting their journey is to be open to change and knowledge. Take a chance on yourself, sometimes it may be scary but I promise that you will be worth it. Take a leap, invest in yourself, attend a conference, sign up for extra classes, shadow professionals in the industry, do what you feel will help you further yourself in your career.
Please tell us about MAE Marketing Agency.
I do specialize in a few things but overall I would say that I am a Marketing Professional. Recently I started MAE Marketing Agency that specializes in Digital Marketing, Social Media Marketing, Public Relations and Influencer Consulting and Marketing. In addition to those services we also specialize in web design and management. I have worked on multiple sites providing my clients with individual attention, making sure that I create a platform that is exactly what they want. I think that the thing I am most proud of is being able to do something that I love around my busy schedule and create amazing relationships with brands and individuals both large and small. I think what sets me apart from others is who I am, I love to build real honest relationships with my clients. I treat everyone as an individual, not a number. I communicate with them and discuss options and plans that are the best fit for them. I am truly passionate about what I do and helping others reach their goals and I have received feedback from clients that it shows it my works.
In addition to being a Marketing Professional, I am also a blogger and Influencer. I have been able to succeed as an influencer with my marketing background. I make sure to create real lasting relationships with brands and continue to promote them on all platforms. I would much rather build lasting relationships than just take a campaign for a check. Even though the blogger lifestyle is more fun than working I do love the cross over and meeting others and experience events such as NYFW.
