Meet Roderick de Rode of Spinn in Venice

Today we’d like to introduce you to Roderick de Rode.

Roderick, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
It started with the frustration with the POD systems like Keurig and Nespresso and the bad tasting coffee made by those machines. With a bunch of coffee experts and engineers, we came up with a method to make coffee using a centrifuge. The machine is also using Wifi to order more coffee beans when you’re running low.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Its been long and hard with many many challenges.

Spinn, Inc. – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I have a tech background at Dell, Microsoft, and startups. We started with Spinn out of a passion for coffee and the wasteful, expensive and mediocracy of the taste of the coffee from POD systems like Keurig and Nespresso.
We invested a new way to brew coffee using a spinner (centrifuge) therefor the coffee tastes better, have a better extraction and we don’t use wasteful filters, pods or other things that end up as landfill.

Using Internet, connectivity, apps and our marketplace the user gets to connect to a platform of coffee roasters that automagically deliver new beans to your door. Its like Amazon meets Nest, for coffee.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The first cup of coffee.
