Today we’d like to introduce you to Kari Kroll.
Kari grew up in Long Island and studied Illustration at the School of Visual Arts in New York. She earned success as a commercial artist creating collage art for publications such as The New Yorker, Entertainment Weekly, Bon Appetit and The Washington Post.
Kari’s recent collages and abstract paintings have been commissioned by interior designers and home stagers here in LA, NYC and the Berkshire region of Massachusetts. Several of her paintings and collages are incorporated into Jeanne Chung of Pasadena’s design boutique, Cozy Stylish Chic’s room for the upcoming Pasadena Showcase House, April 22-May 20! Jeanne is a brilliant designer and Kari is thrilled and honored to participate with her!
Has it been a smooth road?
Overall, it’s been a smooth road, albeit a long one! Due to some early health issues with our second daughter and then the surprise of having twins, I basically set my career on hold. All four kids are grown now, aged 19, 17 and 14×2. It’s the perfect time to resume work!
Instagram is the perfect platform to market what I do! Every new client I have is directly from IG!
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Kari Kroll Art story. Tell us more about the business.
I specialize in custom abstract paintings and collage for the home. I work with designers and home stagers, but I also do private commissions. I fill a need for site-specific size and color palette work with a very good price point. My goal is to help make homes more layered and cozy with the addition of real art, rather than printed canvas. I’m known for my ability to understand sophisticated color palettes, my textures and my graphic black and whites. As for collage, the whimsical, surreal and tactile!
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I think it will continue to grow as more and more people are interested in supporting local artisans and owning real, actual pieces of art.
