Today we’d like to introduce you to Duncan Westley.
Duncan, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
After a lifelong love of music, and records, and exhausted by years of digital marketing agency work, I decided to start selling vintage generally, in a few locations, and I’m now focused on vinyl records in my own location, namely Funk Zone Records, which opened one year ago in the Santa Barbara Funk Zone, a vibrant mix of wineries, breweries, galleries, retail and restaurants
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s been pretty smooth, just constantly on the lookout to buy record collections to keep a well-curated stock in the shop!
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We’re small but mighty, keeping a good selection across all music genres [rock, soul, punk, metal, soul/funk, reggae, blues, jazz and a little hip-hop when I can find it!]. Whether you’re looking for the Beatles, John Coltrane, Nico, Prince Far I, Roxy Music, Ozzy, or The 13th Floor Elevators, we have it! And if we don’t have it in the shop feel free to ask, as I will go through storage to see if I have it there.
What makes you happy?
Finding great record collections to buy, so customers have a great selection to choose from, and seeing their joy when they find what they’re looking for, or a new discovery
