Rising Stars: Meet Arthur Gonzalez of Downtown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Arthur Gonzalez.

Hi Arthur, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Quantum Groove was created because I felt like Los Angeles was missing a true daytime house music experience. We’ve always had great nightlife and rooftop parties, but there wasn’t a space where you could hear properly curated house music during the day with real production and intentional booking — especially for the millennial and Gen X crowd that helped build this culture. I’m part of that generation, and I wanted to create something that gives us a proper experience while still welcoming the next wave.

My goal was to bring light into the house music community and create an environment that feels elevated, music-first, and rooted in connection. We started on rooftops in Downtown LA, focusing on sound, skyline, and energy. From there we expanded by partnering with Incognito on our Saturdaze at the Park series at LA State Historic Park in Chinatown. That allowed us to bring in international artists like Hammer from Bicep and legends like DJ Irene, while also showcasing top local talent and curating the lineup in a meaningful way. Curation has always been the foundation of what we do.

Professionally, my background is in banking, along with technology and hospitality, and all of that shapes how I build Quantum Groove. I understand structure, guest experience, and sustainability from a business perspective, but at the heart of it I’m still a dancer and a DJ who came up in the Los Angeles scene and wanted to create the experience I felt was missing.

Now we’ve come full circle and returned to the rooftops in DTLA. The intention is the same as day one — to deliver a proper daytime house music experience with the right artists, the right production, and a community that’s there for the music and the shared energy.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Building Quantum Groove has been one of the most challenging things I’ve ever taken on. Producing events in Los Angeles comes with real obstacles — finding the right spaces, funding proper production, curating the right lineups, building a solid team, and consistently earning people’s trust and attention in a city that has endless options.

But it’s also been the most rewarding experience of my life. I’ve been able to create a real community around the music and bring a vision to life that started as just an idea. Seeing people connect on the dance floor in the daytime, watching artists get a proper platform, and feeling the energy of something we built from the ground up makes every challenge worth it. The difficult moments shaped the identity of Quantum Groove and pushed me to grow both as a person and as a founder.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Right now I help with our family real estate business, and my main focus is growing Quantum Groove while continuing to develop as a DJ. A lot of my time goes into working on music, preparing sets, studying sound, and performing, because being an active artist is an important part of how I lead the brand and stay connected to the culture.

One of the things I’m most proud of is my professional background and the range of environments I’ve been able to move through. I’ve worked in banking, technology, and hospitality, where I had the opportunity to sit in meetings with executives from major hotel groups, present solutions, and also work within private banking. Those experiences taught me how to communicate at a high level, build long-term relationships, and understand how to structure ideas in a way that’s sustainable.

What sets me apart is that I bring that same level of professionalism and intention into the creative world. I’m not only curating events — I’m also the DJ playing them — so I’m able to approach everything from both the business and the artist perspective. That balance, along with the relationships I’ve built over the years, has allowed me to create something that bridges music, community, and real-world experience in a meaningful way.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
What makes me happy is love. I really believe love is the driving force behind everything in the universe. It’s what connects us to each other and to the world in a meaningful way.

I feel that through music, through community, and through Los Angeles itself. Music gives us a shared language, the dance floor creates connection between strangers, and this city is a place where so many different stories and cultures come together. When those things align, there’s a real sense of unity and energy that’s hard to describe but powerful to experience.

Love is at the center of all of it. It’s what motivates me to create, to bring people together, and to keep building spaces where people can feel free, inspired, and connected in a beautiful way.
