Life & Work with Allise Thompson of Granada Hills

Today we’d like to introduce you to Allise Thompson.

Hi Allise, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My husband and I started this business in 2000 with just myself answering the phones and my husband out in the field. We ran our first add in the Penny Saver. At one point we grew to 15 employees. In 2017 my husband passed away and I continued running the plumbing business. I have downsized to 4 employees to be able to keep it more personable with my employees and customers.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
As I always say this business is like a roller coaster hold on for the ride.
I managed through several obstacles with the first one of the passing of my husband who ran this business as he was the Licensed Plumber and I survived through Covid when all the other business had to be shut down we were considered an essential business and was allowed to continue working. Our business dropped by 75% but we were able to stay afloat. We also lost several customers in the Palisades area after the fires who we did regular Maintenance on their homes.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a Women owned business in a Male dominated industry and had to prove myself in many situations with contractors and customers.
We are a full service and repair plumbing company..
My biggest accomplishment was taking over the business when my husband passed away. Since day one when we started this business in 2000 I worked side by side with my husband bidding jobs, going out to jobsites so when he passed in was a scary transition but I was confident in myself as I was involved in every aspect of the business since day 1.

Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favorite childhood memory is having my friends come over and go fishing in my backyard, My parents lived in Northridge and they had a fishing pond and my friends would come over and go fishing.
