Today we’d like to introduce you to Carly Weaver.
Hi Carly, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Justin Pecikonis discovered his passion for building at an early age, starting with LEGO sets and evolving into a lifelong fascination with how spaces come together. That curiosity grew into hands-on experience and, ultimately, into a vision. In 2001, Justin turned that vision into reality by founding JRP Design & Remodel, with a clear goal of approaching construction through a designer’s lens and creating spaces that are as thoughtful as they are functional.
Lori Pecikonis arrived at JRP through a different path but with an equally deep-rooted connection to the industry. Raised on job sites alongside her father, a Commercial General Contractor, Lori developed an early understanding of construction before building a successful career in both custom home building and real estate. Her background gave her a rare perspective that bridges design, execution, and client advocacy.
When Justin and Lori met, it was more than a personal connection; it was a professional alignment. They immediately recognized their shared passion for building and how their strengths complemented one another. Lori ultimately stepped away from her thriving real estate career to join JRP full time, bringing her attention to detail, organizational expertise, and leadership to the company’s internal operations.
Together, Justin and Lori became the driving force behind JRP’s evolution, transitioning the company from a kitchen-and-bath remodeling firm into a full-service Design-Build company. With a dedicated team of designers, project managers, and skilled tradespeople, JRP delivers a seamless and highly personalized experience, guiding clients through transformative projects that result in homes that are both beautiful and livable.
From its showroom on Thousand Oaks Boulevard to national recognition in publications such as Remodeling Magazine and Qualified Remodeler, as well as features on HGTV, JRP Design & Remodel has continued to grow and earn industry respect. Despite this national presence, the company has remained proudly family-owned and family-run, cultivating a close-knit culture built on trust, collaboration, and long-term relationships.
In 2026, JRP Design & Remodel celebrates 25 years in business, a milestone that reflects not only longevity but also a sustained commitment to innovation, craftsmanship, and people. Justin and Lori continue to invest in their team, support forward-thinking design, and prioritize relationships that last well beyond project completion.
Driven by cutting-edge design, superior craftsmanship, and unwavering attention to detail, JRP looks toward the future with the same passion that sparked its beginnings. After more than two decades of building dream homes, the best is truly yet to come.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The journey has been deeply rewarding, though far from effortless, as building a company of this scale from the ground up requires resilience, patience, and constant evolution. JRP has grown alongside Justin and Lori’s own personal journey, as they not only built a business but also raised a family and embraced the responsibilities and challenges that come with doing both simultaneously. Their commitment to excellence and refusal to settle for the status quo has demanded greater effort, honest self-reflection, and the willingness to have difficult conversations, both internally and externally.
In the contracting world, many situations can fall outside of one’s direct control, which is a core reason JRP evolved into a true Design-Build firm that places responsibility within a single, integrated team. This approach benefits clients through streamlined communication, clearer accountability, and fewer delays, while internally setting a high bar for ownership and performance.
By consistently pushing themselves to grow, showing up in the community in meaningful ways, and learning from inevitable setbacks, Justin and Lori were able to put thoughtful systems and processes in place that strengthened the company at every level. Each challenge became an opportunity to refine operations, reinforce values, and build long-term resilience. While JRP remains proudly family-owned and family-run, it operates with the precision, structure, and professionalism of a much larger organization, supported by established systems designed to protect both clients and the company, ensuring consistency, accountability, and preparedness for the future.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Since 2001, JRP Design & Remodel has been dedicated to creating timeless, high-quality homes through a fully integrated Design-Build approach. Our in-house team of architects, designers, and project managers work together from concept to completion, providing clients with a single-team experience built on clarity, accountability, and trust. We believe that transforming a home truly transforms the way you live, from the first cup of coffee in the morning to the moment you lay your head down at night.
We specialize in new custom homes, additions, and extensive remodels, including kitchens, bathrooms, and exterior renovations. Serving Ventura County and surrounding areas from Camarillo to Calabasas, including Thousand Oaks, Westlake Village, North Ranch, and Lake Sherwood, we are known for cutting-edge design, superior craftsmanship, and thoughtful attention to every detail.
What sets JRP apart is our signature process, giving clients a seamless and less stressful experience. As a true Design-Build firm, we eliminate fragmented communication, reduce delays, and provide full pricing and budget transparency. Our design team guides every material and fixture selection, creates 3D walkthroughs so clients can see their home before construction begins, and provides daily updates on progress through our integrated platform. Each project is tailored to how clients live today and how they want to live in the future, while pushing our team to consistently raise the bar and exceed expectations.
We are especially proud of the reputation we’ve earned through referrals and client trust, with over 200 five-star reviews across Google, Yelp, and Houzz, along with national recognition in Remodeling Magazine, Qualified Remodeler, and features on HGTV. From humble beginnings to a team of in-house professionals, JRP remains proudly family-owned, building homes with intention, integrity, and lasting value.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
What makes us happy is creating beautiful work that lasts and leaves a legacy in our community, while being a trusted resource for the people who put their faith in us. We value vulnerability, both as individuals and as a team, and we understand that investing in a remodel or custom home is a huge step; often taking years of hard-earned savings and effort to create the life they envision. We don’t take that responsibility lightly. It brings us pride to listen attentively, guide thoughtfully, and help our clients turn their dreams into reality. What truly brings us joy is seeing what people didn’t think was possible come to life; and doing it alongside a team of genuinely kind, hardworking, and dedicated people here at JRP.
