Anthony Sturmas of Hollywood on Life, Lessons & Legacy

Anthony Sturmas shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Anthony, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What is a normal day like for you right now?
My typical day begins at three in the morning, when I rise to enjoy a cup of coffee while reviewing the latest posts on social media. Shortly thereafter, I share updates about recent storyboards I have worked on or provide news regarding Ninja Girl. This routine allows me to stay connected with my audience and keep them informed about my creative endeavors.

Shortly, I will head to Gold’s Gym for a workout, as maintaining my health is essential, along with staying mentally attuned to current trends. Throughout the day, I will engage in follow-up meetings and video conferences with a group of artists and writers who are collaborating on my latest project.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Anthony Sturmas, and I am a storyboard artist and co-creator of Ninja Girl, before that I started out as a graffiti artist in Los Angeles. My work thrives at the crossroads of visual storytelling and unfiltered creativity; I utilize storyboards not merely as a planning mechanism but as a vibrant medium to infuse life into characters and worlds long before they grace the screen.

What makes my brand unique is the fusion of cinematic precision with street-level artistry. I grew up inspired by graffiti as both rebellion and poetry, and that influence shapes the way I frame scenes and compose visuals. Ninja Girl, which I co-created with Stephen Meier, is a perfect example of that blend: it’s bold, kinetic, and unapologetically authentic, pushing against industry norms while staying rooted in craft.

My current focus is entirely on Ninja Girl, a project that encapsulates my passion for storytelling. It’s a fierce heartbeat of creativity—untamed, electric, and alive—shattering the limits of convention to draw audiences into a world that blazes with color, grit, and unforgettable rhythm. Each frame is meticulously crafted to evoke both energy and emotion, ensuring that viewers don’t merely watch but truly experience it. I feel incredibly fortunate to collaborate with a talented team of creatives, dedicating ourselves to making Ninja Girl resonate, inspire, and emerge as something genuinely distinctive.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
My past sharpened me through discipline and resilience. The grind, the rejection, the constant proving of worth—they forged my creative fire and taught me persistence. I’ve always had a part of me that shuns approval and embraces the unconventional. I never sought validation, which is why I fell in love with graffiti at 15; it was raw and defied traditional art forms, now ironically embraced by mainstream entities like Disney..

I focus on authenticity, vision, and the passion to create work that truly resonates, like my latest project, Ninja Girl—bold, vibrant, and playful. In this journey, I steer clear of shortcuts and automation, determined not to let AI diminish the human essence in my art. My creations are unique, shaped by personal experiences, dedication, and creativity. I stand firm in my commitment to authenticity, crafting pieces that machines simply can’t replicate—only the human touch can bring them to life.

True art demands presence. It asks you to show up with your hands, your memories, your instincts, and your flaws. That authenticity is what connects with people—it’s what makes them feel something beyond the surface. Being real means refusing shortcuts that erase the human spark.

What will now be released will be known by summer of 2026.

When did you last change your mind about something important?
I’ve shifted my perspective on valuing the opinions of friends and even family.

I’ve decided to stop taking advice from those who try to control my direction. I believe that each person is the architect of their own journey, and while obstacles are inevitable, they are part of the growth process. Many people, including artists, may offer suggestions, but their advice can lack substance if their own lives don’t demonstrate success. For example, I would question the fitness advice of an overweight coach. The same goes for the art world; those who give guidance may not have achieved the success I’m aiming for if they haven’t progressed in their own careers. This is why it’s crucial to be selective about who you let influence you, as negative advice often comes from a place of jealousy and can stifle your development.

So here’s the truth: stop letting random people—or even close friends—steer your life. Most advice comes loaded with their own fears, biases, or limitations. Walk your own path, trust your own instincts, and only let someone’s words in if you genuinely believe they understand you and have earned that trust. Otherwise, tune it out and keep moving.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
The biggest misconception in Hollywood is the belief that success is easily attainable and that talent alone will pave the way. In reality, even getting a foot in the door requires immense effort, determination, and a daily commitment to your dreams. The industry often promotes the fantasy of instant fame, but the truth is that it’s a relentless grind filled with rejection, where resilience is your most valuable asset. It only takes one groundbreaking idea or a piece of art that resonates globally to change everything for you, but the timing of that success is uncertain—only time will reveal when you’re truly ready for it.

The notion that connections or trends can substitute for authenticity is a fallacy. In Hollywood, there is a tendency to prioritize formulas, hype, and influence over genuine creativity. However, true success is reserved for those who persist relentlessly, who are deeply passionate about their vision and continue to strive despite challenges. This journey is far from glamorous; it is often arduous and demanding. Yet, it is precisely this struggle that renders achievements meaningful, as every advancement is a result of hard work and dedication rather than mere chance. Consistent effort and dedication in your pursuits will naturally draw the right individuals to you; such commitment does not go unnoticed.

You engage in the same routine repeatedly, akin to the repetitive cycle of Groundhog Day, until a moment arrives when that obligation ceases to exist.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What are you doing today that won’t pay off for 7–10 years?
Every day, I focus on building habits that keep me healthy and out of the hospital. I hit the gym hard, pushing through each set with determination. My diet is on point, providing my body with the right fuel, and I consistently take supplements to support my long-term goals. However, the most important aspect is maintaining my peace of mind—staying mentally sharp, keeping my focus intact, and not allowing doubt to take hold.

It’s not about instant results; it’s about building a foundation that compounds over time. The discipline I put into eating clean, training hard, and maintaining balance will pay off in ways that go beyond the physical—it’s about longevity, resilience, and being ready when the moment comes. That’s the work I’m doing today, knowing the real rewards are years down the line.
