An Inspired Chat with Eloiza Tecson of Costa Mesa

Eloiza Tecson shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Hi Eloiza, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What’s the most surprising thing you’ve learned about your customers?
That is a fantastic question, and it gets right to the heart of why we do what we do.

When we started E20, we thought the most surprising thing we would learn would be some technical detail – maybe how fast people adapt to the EMS technology or some physiological discovery about recovery.

But the most surprising, and frankly, the most humbling, thing we’ve learned is how deeply our customers rely on us as their anchor of stability.

In today’s high-speed, hyper-connected world, people are starving for consistency and human connection. Our members are could work out anywhere. But what they tell us, time and time again, is that E20 is their non-negotiable, 20-minute block of clarity in a chaotic week.

The surprise is realizing that they’re not just buying muscle contractions; they are buying the certainty of walking into a space where they know their coach sees them, understands their energy level that day, and is fully dedicated to their specific, personalized progress.

It’s confirmed for me that our primary business isn’t fitness technology; it’s human connection and resilience. This realization is why we dedicate so much time to really knowing the person behind the membership – because that emotional and psychological anchor is the true secret to long-term physical success.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My career passion has always been bridging the gap between cutting-edge sports science and everyday human performance. E20 isn’t a traditional fitness brand; we’re a high-performance movement and recovery studio. Our model is built around two key pillars: the profound efficiency of 20-minute Electro Muscle Stimulation (EMS) training and targeted neuro-recovery services, like our new Shiftwave Therapy.

What makes us truly unique – and why our clients are so devoted – is our obsessive focus on validated outcomes and personalized coaching. We don’t guess; we measure. Every program is driven by objective data, like our Movement Performance Index (MPI) scores, proving that our clients are getting stronger, moving better, and recovering faster in just 20 minutes. We’ve designed E20 to be the most efficient, highest-impact session our members can fit into their busy lives.

Ultimately, we are committed to being the reliable anchor for our members’ long-term health. That mission fuels what we’re working on right now: we’re actively expanding our clinical studies to establish the gold standard evidence for EMS efficacy.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
That’s a very easy question for me to answer. The relationship that most shaped how I see myself, and how I lead, is the one I have with my family, especially my parents.

I grew up in an environment where my parents always prioritized showing up for their community, whether it was through local volunteering or simply being the reliable gathering point for our extended family and neighbors. I learned that true strength isn’t just about what you achieve individually, but how you foster a support system around you.

This translated directly into my passion for building E20. I didn’t want to create just a facility; I wanted to create a community of champions. When you step back, a great fitness studio isn’t much different from a thriving family unit – it needs trust, accountability, and the shared belief that everyone is pulling for each other.

At E20, we take the idea of ‘community’ seriously. We see our members as part of our extended family, and our coaches act as dedicated guides, creating a non-judgmental space where people can be vulnerable about their struggles and celebrate their victories. That commitment to fostering connection and support, learned years ago at home, is what drives our commitment to personalized, human-centric wellness today.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
If I could go back and say one truly kind thing to my younger self – the one who was constantly under self-imposed pressure and always rushing toward the next milestone – I would simply tell her:

“Slow down. The timing is perfect, and you are worthy of rest.”

I spent so much of my early career, and even my personal life, equating speed and exhaustion with success. I thought if I wasn’t burning the candle at both ends, I wasn’t trying hard enough. The reality is that the best ideas, the most genuine connections, and the most sustainable success are built on clarity, not chaos.

I would encourage her to be less afraid of making mistakes and more focused on being present. Learning to trust the pace of the process, rather than trying to force the timeline, is the single most valuable lesson I’ve taken into running E20. It’s only when we allow ourselves space to breathe that we can truly see our members, our team, and the mission clearly. I would tell her to be radically kind to herself, because that self-compassion is the foundation for leading a compassionate community.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? How do you differentiate between fads and real foundational shifts?
This is the million-dollar question in the wellness industry, which is absolutely saturated with quick fixes and temporary trends.

The simplest way to differentiate a fad from a foundational shift is to ask: Does it leverage a fundamental, proven biological mechanism?

Fads are typically based on exclusion, restriction, or complexity – like ‘miracle’ powders or extreme diet protocols. They often produce rapid, unsustainable results because they bypass basic human physiology.

In contrast, foundational shifts, like strength training, are permanent movements because they leverage how the human body is designed to function. E20 is built entirely on this principle. We utilize Electro Muscle Stimulation, but we are not a fad because we are simply using advanced technology to optimize the foundational mechanism of muscle contraction and hypertrophy. We are making a proven process 7x more efficient.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
What I understand deeply that most people, even in the fitness world, often overlook is the direct, immediate, and catastrophic connection between a busy nervous system and physical performance.

Most people think of ‘being stressed’ as a feeling. They believe they can simply push through it in the gym. But what we understand deeply at E20 is that stress is a physical state of inflammation and nervous system overload.

When your life is running at 100 mph, your body is locked in a sympathetic (fight-or-flight) state. In that state, your capacity to recover, build new muscle, or even recruit muscle fibers efficiently is severely compromised. If you try to do an intense workout while your nervous system is fried, you are simply piling stress onto stress, leading to burnout, injury, and zero progress.

Most fitness brands preach ‘Hustle Harder.’ We understand that often, the highest-performance strategy is actually intelligent recovery. That’s why our 20-minute EMS sessions are hyper-focused, delivering maximum stimulus with minimal systemic stress, and why we invested in services like Shiftwave – because if we don’t fix the brain and the nervous system first, the strongest muscles in the world won’t matter.
