Today we’d like to introduce you to Munya.
Hi Munya, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started playing guitar when I was 17 years old. I started getting more and more into music when I ended my boxing career. Since day 1 when I first picked up the guitar I fell in love with it and never stopped playing it since then. Before moving to Los Angeles I was a member of several bands, with two of them – Škis and Pulse Project we released 3 singles, available on all streaming platforms. After that I moved from Slovenia to Los Angeles in pursuit of a college degree in music. Currently I’m a student at Musicians Institute of Hollywood and in June 2026 I am predicted to graduate.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No it for sure wasn’t a smooth road. There were many obstacles along the way since I started, but I’m the kind of guy who tackles the obstacles straight on, I face my problems in order to solve them ASAP, so I can grow as a musician and a person. It’s very tough starting a new “thing” when you’re 17 years old. You have no experiences, no knowledge, no connections and you’re at a… funny age. No one really takes your ambitions and dreams that serious anymore you know, they all think you’re too old to start something new, something you know nothing about and have no experience with. No one really believes you’ll get anywhere. Everyone silently expects you to quit after a few months, but I never cared what others thought of me starting music at 17. I just loved it so much and I wanted to do something about it.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Well I’m a guitarist. I started out as 80s hard rock/hair glam metal guitarist, but lately I’ve been more interested in other music genres like blues, blues rock, g funk, composing, etc. Music is all around me every day, I listen to music all the time and I like to listen to different genres, because I want my music knowledge to be as big as possible. With that I believe comes ideas and inspirations for my own songs. I’ve been recording a lot of demos lately, mostly blues and blues rock songs, some r&b and indie pop stuff too. I make g funk beats from time to time, when my time allows me to. I really do my best to be efficient and inventful in all aspects of music, if it’s lyrics writing, recording or just jamming!
What makes you happy?
Knowing that my family and friends have my back when it comes to my dreams and my goals. They’re all very supportive of what I do. That makes me calm and happy and ignites a fire in me to keep on working.
