Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Jason Bahamundi of West Hollywood

Jason Bahamundi shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Good morning Jason, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
The first 90 minutes of my day includes brushing my teeth and getting the coffee started. I follow that up by recording a Morning Cup Of Jason video and then sitting down at my laptop to read emails, check our social media platforms for any comments that need replies.

After that, I check our social media calendar to make sure that what is scheduled to be posted is actually scheduled to post.

Then I go to my list of to-dos and start working my way through the list. Not always top to bottom but I start with what feels like I can get it accomplished and feel good about it.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Jason Bahamundi and I am the founder of Run Tri Bike which is a platform in the endurance sports space that is proving that there is a spot at the starting line for everybody and every body.

Under the Run Tri Bike umbrella we also have the Everyday Athlete Podcast Network and the Everyday Athlete Clubhouse.

Our vision/mission and platform is unique because our focus is on the whole person and not just the metrics of the athlete. In other words, we want to know why you compete versus what your performance in the competition was.

Those stories are what connect us to each other and allow us to feel welcomed in these sports.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My wife, Lori Hauck.

She saw the potential in me and my ideas to launch a business that would transform the media in the endurance sports space while also allowing me to be me.

Her words when the company was getting started were: Be You and you will attract the people you want to work with.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Not just one time but a number of times.

Being an entrepreneur is hard. You are handling everything and everything seems pressing. You try to do it all but some days you want to close up shop because that would be easier (in the moment.)

When this happens, I take a step back and allow my mind to clear and gain perspective. Once I am able to set my mind back to a level spot then I can move forward.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What’s a cultural value you protect at all costs?
Everybody has a valuable story to tell and I want to hear them.

Nobody is morally superior to another therefore each story is equal and all must be shared.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
My genuine care for them.

I reply to every comment that is posted on our social media pages as well as each email that comes through. I provide my phone number to those that request it so that they have access to me.

We use the term customer but I think of them as investors. Without them there is nothing so treating them as if I don’t need them or they aren’t important doesn’t make any sense to me.

If they are spending their hard earned money on our business then I am going to be there for them when they need me.
