Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Yonatan Meltzer of Hollywood

We recently had the chance to connect with Yonatan Meltzer and have shared our conversation below.

Good morning Yonatan, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What makes you lose track of time—and find yourself again?
Producing and making music is my ultimate time gobbler. I can work 10-12 hours without even noticing time went by. I often start realizing that the day has gone by only when it’s getting dark. I get so lost in the details and vast possibilities that time seem to just be slipping by.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
At the age of 7 I realized for the first time that music is my calling. Ever since I’ve been honing different disciplines, completing a full piano recital at 18, jazz performance and composition as a college student, and continued working as a producer and songwriter for popular music, Hip-Hop and RnB ever since. In early 2026 I’m planning on releasing my first solo project under my brand name Meltz. I moved to LA in 2024 and ever since took a huge hiatus in order to perfect my art. My goal with this project is to come back to my roots: performing my music live with a band, singing my songs while playing piano.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
I remember not knowing what to do with my music. For the first part of my life, I felt lost. I knew I was destined to be in music but I didn’t have a clear understanding of what I want to put out there. People have noticed my skill regardless and therefore I ended up working with other artists on their music mostly behind the scenes, or playing and producing their shows live on stage. I got pretty far up the road with that, But I’ve always felt like something was missing. I knew I wanted to put my message out there through my music and it’s only in recent years that this abstract dream materialized into what it is today. But I had to take a hard step back and a hard look in the mirror, That was the hardest part.

What fear has held you back the most in your life?
My biggest fear is people not liking me. I think It’s something a lot of artists can relate to. There’s a lot of self reflection involved in the process of finessing your art. Sometimes you feel so incompetent that you want to just stop. The fear of negative reactions from the people around me has paralyzed me for a long time. It made me focus on perfecting my skills, which is a good thing to an extent, but when it’s getting to a point where you don’t put yourself out there if you’re not “perfect” that’s where it becomes a huge hindrance for fulfillment.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Is the public version of you the real you?
I would say it relies deeply on who I actually am. But I sort of pick and choose the sides of me that I do want to show in public. Unfortunately most people get thrown off by complexity of character. So I do try to come through as coherent as possible, while implementing some of my deeper sides in a more subtle way.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What will you regret not doing?
i’ll regret not following my heart’s desire in any shape, form or way. It’s a tougher journey, but there’s no other for me.
