Today we’d like to introduce you to Jay Rosenzweig.
Hi Jay, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started as a Private investigator in Los Angeles in the early 1980’s. In the mid 2000s I formed a separate company to locate birth relatives and reunite them with their our clients.
This all started when my niece asked for my help in finding her birth mother. It took me five minutes to find her, They were reunited shortly thereafter. My niece came up with the idea that I form a separate company to locate birth parents. Thus, birthparentfinder.com was formed in 2006. The company started out slow,
but in 2013 I was asked by KTLA5 to help them with a story for their news anchor Chris Schauble in finding his birth family. This story went on for six months before he was reunited with his birth mother in a heartwarming reunion that went viral. This story put birthparentfinder.com on the map at the National level. The company grew even more during the pandemic when CBS National news and the Washington Post did stories on people searching for their birth parents during that time. We were so busy with referrals that we all of a sudden became the leading company for adoption reunion in the United States. We are still at the top in this field and I now have an award-winning podcast called Finding Family DNA. In addition, for the past 4 1/2 years I have appeared monthly on KTLA5’s Off The Clock show wth a segment called “Finding Family.”
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Over the years we’ve had thousands of cases. However, there are people that cannot afford our service so we do some holiday specials where we offer our services pro bono. This is not really a struggle. It’s just a way of helping people. The struggle can be when our clients don’t get closure because their birth parents or birth relatives don’t want to reach out or deny that they are the right people. My goal is to give my clients as much information as possible so they can move on and possibly get peace of mind.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
What sets my company apart from all the other companies is that we take a personal approach with our clients and sometimes even to hold their hand during this process of finding their family. We basically research through DNA and investigation methods to find their birth family, get their contact information and reach out to them on our clients behalf. We are basically the liaison between our clients and their birth family. We are one of the few companies that offers this extra service.
