Today we’d like to introduce you to Bless Mazarura.
Hi Bless, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My fashion journey started as a young child sitting next to my mother sewing deep in the rural mountains of Zimbabwe. She would sew on a manual vintage sewing machine and I would sit next to her observing her take fabric and thread and turn it into clothing. It wasn’t until I was about 14 that I made my first creation, a friend showed me a viode cassette with a show by MTV and I was inspired. My mother showed me how to modify existing clothing or break them down to turn them into patterns. 20 years later I created a t -shirt brand and from there I eventually taught myself how to sew 15 years ago and finally launched my current brand Bless By Bless.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road has been amazing but far from smooth. My entire journey has bene self taught and so all my lessons are through trail and error. That means there is has been endless amounts of mistakes, lost finances, lost sleep and lost opportunities. The fashion industry is a highly coveted space and the translates to it being very competitive and the higher you go the more exclusive the rooms get, at which point you must more to offer than good designs or ideas, you yourself and your values also become the product. However it has been a beautiful experience that has taught me so much and given me the opportunity to meet so many amazing souls.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a self-taught fashion designer and multimedia creative who explores the world through fine art, fashion, music, and writing. Throughout my career, I’ve moved fluidly between branding and fashion design, a balance that has taken me behind the scenes with major brands such as Lacoste, Eddie Bauer, Banana Republic, Steve Madden, Ducati, Nine West, IBM, Macy’s, and Gap.
My own brand has been showcased in Los Angeles, New York, Paris, and Milan Fashion Weeks — milestones that still feel surreal considering where my journey began. Coming from a small village to presenting on some of the world’s biggest stages is something I carry with deep pride.
What truly sets my work apart is the purpose behind it. Fashion is my language, but my mission goes far beyond aesthetics. Over the years, I’ve been part of fundraising efforts locally and internationally, including Zimbabwe, helping raise more than $1 million for individuals who are ill or marginalized. My passion for fashion is rooted in its ability to heal, empower, and transform lives — and that purpose is at the heart of everything I create.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What matters most to me is purpose — the ability to turn creativity into something that heals, elevates, and transforms lives. Every project, whether it’s Bless By Bless, my music, my art, or my storytelling, is rooted in the same belief: art is a responsibility, and creativity is a form of service.
I care deeply about impact over aesthetics, about humanity and healing, and about leaving a legacy rooted in service. I have a profound love for people, for nature, and for being in harmony with the universe. Those values were instilled in me by my mother, who named me Blessing, and they’ve been reinforced by my humble beginnings. Because of that, I’ve always felt a duty to give back — to uplift others and to leave the world better than I found it.
