Brittany Brown shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Hi Brittany, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What do you think is misunderstood about your business?
People often assume my job is just about “making things pretty” or playing with makeup all day, and while the glam part is definitely fun, it’s only a small piece of what I do.
I’ve been a business owner and entrepreneur for 12 years, and there’s a whole world behind the scenes that most people never see. My days are filled with client calls, emails, Google Meets, Zooms, building/reviewing timelines, coordinating my team of artists, and making sure every detail is aligned before makeup and hair even begin.
For weddings and large shoots, I create full getting-ready schedules, curate and manage a team of artists, coordinate with planners and producers, and set the tone for the entire morning with a calm, positive energy.
I’m constantly answering inquiries, guiding clients, and helping them understand what will work best. I make sure they feel confident long before the actual event.
Yes, I do makeup and hair, but I also create an experience people remember!
I love filming behind-the-scenes content, creating videos for clients, and capturing moments they’ll get to relive later.
My job is part artistry, part logistics, part emotional support, and 100% passion!
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Brittany Brown, the owner and artist behind Brittany Brown Beauty. I’ve been in the makeup industry for over 12 years, and I truly love what I do.
One of the unique things about me is my naturally curly hair! It instantly puts clients with similar textures at ease because they know I understand their hair firsthand. (I got you!)
Outside of beauty, you can usually find me at a cozy coffee shop, walking my dog, or on spontaneous car adventures exploring new places with my boyfriend.
Throughout the years, I’ve built my business through genuine connections. Networking with hundreds of people and forming long-lasting relationships that have shaped my career.
I specialize in corrective beauty makeup, meaning I study each person’s facial structure and features to enhance them in the most natural, flattering way. My signature style is soft and elevated, with a focus on skin: weightless complexion, bright eyes, and a radiant, healthy finish
Right now, I’m working on a couple of exciting projects with my business partner/boyfriend that mean a lot to me.
You can expect some amazing offerings from me in 2026. So stay tuned and follow along for updates!
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
My relationship with my boyfriend, Tre, has truly reshaped how I see myself. Before him, I was in a toxic relationship where I wasn’t appreciated and was even pushed to choose a different career path.
Being with Tre has been the complete opposite; he sees me, supports me, and genuinely inspires me. He’s my number one encourager and constantly reminds me that nothing is out of reach if I’m willing to go for it.
He helped bring back a part of me that had gone quiet. I feel alive again, bubbly, fun, silly, and fully myself, while still being the detail-oriented person I naturally am.
Tre has also taught me so many valuable business skills that have elevated the way I run my company and communicate with my clients.
I’m in such a happy, grounded place now, and I’m excited for every new challenge ahead, especially with my partner by my side!
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I would tell my younger self to stop worrying about what everyone else thinks and to show up as her, fully and unapologetically. People often give opinions based on what makes them feel comfortable, but their comfort isn’t my responsibility.
I’d remind her to trust her instincts, take up space, and just go for it. Everything she wants becomes possible the moment she chooses herself!
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
One of the biggest lies in the beauty industry is the idea that perfection is both attainable and necessary. This creates unrealistic standards and encourages people to “fix” their supposed flaws instead of embracing what makes them unique.
But the truth is, uniqueness is what creates real beauty! Our individual features carry personality, history, and expression, things no trend or standard can replicate.
When we celebrate the qualities that set us apart, we step into a more authentic, effortless kind of beauty. It’s those subtle differences…the freckles, the face shape, the natural texture, the way your eyes light up, that make you memorable.
Embracing your uniqueness isn’t just empowering; it’s transformative, because confidence rooted in authenticity always shines brighter than perfection!
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What will you regret not doing?
I know I would regret not going all-in on my brand. The only thing that would truly disappoint me is holding myself back out of fear…of judgment, of being misunderstood, or of not being “liked” by everyone.
I’ve realized that being unapologetically myself is the only way forward. Some people will connect with me, others won’t, and that’s completely okay.
What I don’t want is to wake up 50 years from now wishing I had put myself out there, shared my voice, and allowed my personality to shine. I have something unique to offer, and it’s time I show up fully, boldly, and authentically, because not doing that is the only thing I’d ever regret.
