Life & Work with Pasquale Cuorvo of Napoli

Today we’d like to introduce you to Pasquale Cuorvo.

Hi Pasquale, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I was born on September 29th, 1981, in the historic alleys of Naples, where the smell of coffee filled the morning air and the sunlight slipped from one window to another before settling between the narrow streets. It was in the chiaroscuro of those very streets that I lived and took my first steps as a photographer.
I am an only child, and since I was young I felt the need to tell the story of what I saw and experienced. Photography kept me company, it made me feel part of the world—I carried a camera around my neck every single day. Photography, more than a passion, has always been my way of living, of narrating life through images. It is my point of view. Since then, my creative research has always focused on small things, on the details of everyday life capable of conveying universal stories.
In 2009 I began my first collaborations with established photographers, leading up to 2013—a crucial year for me. I signed a contract with “Art and Commerce” in New York for Vogue, presenting a portfolio of exclusive images available for worldwide licensing.
In the same period, I began exhibiting my work, officially introducing myself to both national and international critics.
From that moment on, my photography started attracting the attention of the public and of many well-known personalities from the world of entertainment, who chose to be portrayed through my lens.
I began with street photography and portraiture, but over time I specialized in wedding photography—first on a national level, and in recent years internationally. I am constantly searching for creative inspiration, always attentive to details and continuously experimenting with new techniques.
What I haven’t mentioned is that, in parallel, my academic path was completely different: I graduated in law. As many know, photography—and artistic professions in general—don’t always allow you to earn enough to live, and often you struggle just to keep your passion alive. It’s easy to feel discouraged and tempted to give up and pursue something safer.
But I am tenacious. With commitment, sacrifice, and dedication, I believed in myself. One day, I left my legal career behind and dedicated myself entirely to photography. Everyone thought I was crazy—to abandon a stable profession that allowed me to live comfortably just to chase my dreams.
But yes, sometimes dreams are more important than anything else, and I gave it everything I had. I made this decision during a very difficult time in my life. By leaving what I had, I risked losing my financial stability without knowing if I would succeed with photography. With an extraordinary wife and two beautiful children, I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to give them what they deserved. But with the help of my wife, who always believed in me and supported me, I made it!
I followed my heart, and today I live doing what I love. I wake up happy and excited for what awaits me. I work much more than before, but it doesn’t weigh on me—it entertains me, motivates me, and keeps me alive.
My studio is in Naples, and that’s where all my ideas take shape, with the aim of meeting the expectations of an increasingly demanding international clientele.
Today I tell stories—any story—around the world with absolute dedication, always striving to portray each project in a simple, authentic, and detailed way. As a photographer specialized in destination weddings, this is now my main focus. My photographic style is rooted in photojournalism: it allows me to capture every moment quickly, revealing not only people’s stories but also their deepest emotions.
I blend a documentary approach with an editorial one to stay aligned with international standards, combining technique and creativity to achieve images with strong visual and emotional impact.
At this point, I couldn’t imagine living without photography. It makes me feel alive and allows me to see everything from different perspectives—and I believe that’s the secret to carrying anything forward.
I love to travel, and my work allows me to do it often, preparing me each time for a new challenge.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It wasn’t easy at all. I come from a modest family: my mother was a homemaker and my father was the only one working, as a metalworker. We weren’t wealthy, but despite everything my parents never let me go without, and when I became a teenager I had to follow an educational path that would allow me to get a diploma quickly, so I could immediately find a job and become financially independent.
I spent many years of my life doing a job I hated, but this only made me appreciate even more what I truly loved: photography.
In the meantime, I tried to turn my greatest passion into a profession, but it wasn’t easy. I didn’t have anyone’s help and in this field the competition is huge and ruthless, especially in Naples.
Many times I told myself: “That’s it, I’m giving up!”, but then I would think that the life I was living wasn’t the life I wanted. So, with all my strength, I kept chasing my dream—with passion, dedication, a spirit of sacrifice, and constant study.
And when I finally made it, the satisfaction was three times greater, and today I am happy.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a photographer specialized in Destination Weddings, working on weddings all around the world, and my style is rooted in photojournalism with touches of editorial aesthetics to meet the needs of the most discerning international clients.
My key qualities are the discretion with which I work, my attention to detail, and my ability to create a real and authentic storytelling experience, capturing spontaneous and meaningful images.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Perhaps the most important quality has been my dedication and constant study, and the fact that I never stopped believing in myself for a single moment.
