Daily Inspiration: Meet Gena Jongsukkijpanich

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gena Jongsukkijpanich.

Hi Gena, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Hi everyone, I’m Gena! I’m a concept artist and designer from Thailand currently based in Pasadena. I’ve always loved art and storytelling, especially anything that involved imagining new worlds. That interest led me to study art more seriously and eventually build a career in visual development and concept design.

Since then, I’ve worked on commercials, games, shorts, and feature animation, and I love creating visuals that spark emotion and curiosity. Outside of work, I’m usually exploring new places, trying new foods, and spending time with friends while finding little moments that inspire my work!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road. Since I started drawing a bit later, building my fundamentals came with a steep learning curve, and there were many times when it felt like I was constantly trying to catch up.

But those challenges taught me a lot. They helped me stay patient and consistent, and they made each step forward feel meaningful. Looking back, I’m grateful for the growth that came from pushing through those early hurdles

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a concept artist and visual development artist, and I also work across illustration and production design. Most of my work focuses on creating visuals and designs that support storytelling, whether that’s designing environments, developing mood and atmosphere, or helping shape the overall look of a project.

One of the things I’m really passionate about is light and color. I love exploring how they can guide emotion, shape a scene, and communicate story in subtle but powerful ways. Playing with mood, lighting, and palettes is a big part of how I approach any piece.

I’m also proud of my adaptability. I’ve had the chance to work on a wide range of projects, each with its own tone and visual language, and I enjoy being able to shift styles and find what best serves the story. That flexibility has helped me collaborate with different teams and jump into varied pipelines while still keeping a strong sense of storytelling in my work.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
I’ve been really fortunate to have a lot of support along the way. My family has always encouraged me to pursue what I love, which made a huge difference when I decided to take art seriously. I’m also incredibly grateful to all the teachers and mentors who helped shape my foundation and pushed me to grow as an artist. And of course, my friends have been some of my biggest inspirations and supporters. Their creativity, encouragement, and belief in me have carried me through so many stages of my journey.
