Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Myers.
Michael, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My story begins in 2009 in Hollywood, California. I had just graduated from Colorado State University and moved back home to Los Angeles. At the time, I was working at LA Fitness, freshly certified as a personal trainer, when I met celebrity trainer Jeanette Jenkins. Jeanette took me under her wing, showed me the ropes, and taught me how to build a credible and successful personal training business. From there, it was off to the races.
I began teaching group fitness classes at Crunch and Equinox in West Hollywood. But through my experience in the corporate fitness world, I realized something major was missing—mindset. People walked into class believing they could run their own program with the weakest mindset possible. I knew I couldn’t last in this industry simply coddling people. So, with the help of my close friend D’Juan Woods, I founded my own bootcamp: Ultimate Athlete Bootcamp.
Our philosophy was simple but powerful—take the average person and show them that they are an athlete. With a strong mind, a strong body, and the spirit to do the work, anyone can step into their own greatness. We launched the bootcamp at Pan Pacific Park, showing up every Saturday—rain, sleet, or wind—for three years straight.
From there, I was given the opportunity to lead group fitness at the MusclePharm headquarters, hosting weekly bootcamps with anywhere from 20 to over 100 people in attendance. I continued that work until COVID hit. When the pandemic arrived and my relationship fell apart, I entered one of the darkest seasons of my life.
But it was in that darkness that I found clarity. I created a mindset program and curriculum called Winning Life Using the Athlete’s Mindset. That curriculum became the foundation for my mindset and life coaching business.
In 2021, I was offered the opportunity to lead and direct group fitness at JLT Performance Gym, an athletic training facility in Hollywood. There, I created nine classes for the schedule and coached combine-style seminars designed to help up-and-coming trainers, coaches, and fitness enthusiasts push past their mental limits and tap into a higher level of performance.
Which brings us to the present day—where I now coach a roster of personal training clients and mindset clients on a weekly basis, helping them build stronger bodies, stronger minds, and stronger lives.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Life has a funny way of presenting adversity. The road to where I am now has been anything but linear. There were plenty of ups and downs—some self-inflicted, others completely out of my control. But through the chaos and the setbacks, my mindset never wavered. My belief in my work never diminished. I stayed the course through my faith in God and the conviction that I was walking in my purpose.
There will always be people who don’t see your vision or believe in what you’re building—and that’s perfectly fine, as long as you don’t let the noise consume you. Some of the challenges I faced included gyms closing, clients moving away, class sizes rising and falling without warning, and people doubting what I was creating. But through every obstacle, it was the athlete’s mindset that kept me moving forward. It allowed me to push through, adapt, and persevere.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a coach and motivator in every phase of life. I specialize in helping people recognize that they already possess the intangible tools needed to be physically strong and mentally grounded. I’m most known for my no-nonsense, no-BS approach, balanced with the empathy and compassion necessary to truly connect with people.
I never waver, I never fold, and I never switch up on the people I work with. For many of my clients, I am the most consistent force in their lives. I’m known for cultivating experiences that embody power, belief, and strength.
What I’m most proud of is my ability to create community—spaces where people feel safe enough to be vulnerable, shift their mindset, and become the strongest versions of themselves by their standards. My authenticity, creativity, and resilience are what set me apart from the rest of the field.
I see a closed door as nothing more than an invitation to find another way in. And I have a genuine talent for tapping into people’s mindsets, identifying what they need, and showing them how to use their own internal strengths to transform their lives.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
I created a mindset group that meets every Thursday at 4 PM PST. We discuss different topics and areas of life where we become vulnerable with each other. I curate all of the questions and facilitate the discussion. Currently, it is an all men’s group, but I would love to start another group that either Incorporated women or was for women only! And remember that with a sound mind, and able Body you are an athlete and the only thing that is stopping you right now is your mindset!
