Today we’d like to introduce you to David French.
Hi David, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My entrepreneurial journey has humble beginnings in a small town called McKenzie, Tennessee. My first business, “M-Studios”, was born to fill a gap in the recording department where our university was lacking. The vision was simple. Provide the performing arts seniors a polished, A/V recording of whatever they sang, in a studio built by my own hands, so they could add it to their portfolio and use it for their own marketing. While successful in its own right, it was the precursor to what would become my current buisness, “Djangough Solutions”.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Smooth is relative. When you’re starting anything from the ground up, it’s bound to get bumpy! At first it was finding clients. Next came sending the bids and entering negotiations. It’s all a struggle when you’re first starting. But, if it’s something you love, that same struggle can quickly turn into fuel for your passion.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I created Djangough Solutuons to be a turn key scenic production house, serving onstage theaters in the greater Los Angeles area. This means, I do it all. Taking ideas from the producers/directors, distilling those ideas into concept designs that I create in Blender, to bringing it into reality. From singular set pieces to full scale onstage conversions, I create the worlds actors walk through.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Learn to advocate for yourself early on.
Don’t be the one waiting for opportunity to knock at your door. It’ll never come. Go out, show the world what you’re made of. And if you fail? Get back up. Its not a life sentence unless you make it so.
In whatever you do, learn all you can. Be the fountain of knowledge. Be a resource for your peers. Above all. Be kind. I can’t tell you how many doors that has opened, both professionally and personally.
