Today we’d like to introduce you to Sophie Blowfield.
Hi Sophie, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Although I live in Los Angeles now, my journey started in London (where I was born and raised) with a Graphic Information Design degree at Westminster University—I’d initially dreamed of fashion design, but quickly realized editorial and media were my true passions. This degree was perfect because it fulfilled all my interests: art history, creativity, editorial, media, and advertising. After graduating, I joined The White Company, the UK’s leading luxury lifestyle brand (think Britain’s answer to Williams-Sonoma or Pottery Barn), as a marketing executive and created their first-ever editorial platform, Be Inspired, right as digital content was emerging.
As social media gained momentum around 2012, I moved to Marcia Kilgore’s Soap & Glory to lead global social media, then got scouted to build Charlotte Tilbury Beauty’s first-ever global social media strategy from the ground up. Being part of the original launch team at Charlotte Tilbury Beauty really catalyzed my career. Since then, I’ve worked with some of the world’s most coveted brands including L’Oréal, Hourglass Cosmetics, Alo Yoga, and 111SKIN, building marketing, social and content strategies across global markets.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road—working in-house taught me one skillset, but transitioning to consulting meant learning an entirely different one. I had to figure out how to market myself, manage client relationships, and most importantly, develop the confidence to position myself in an incredibly saturated industry. I’ve been fortunate to have strong female mentors who pushed me forward, but ultimately it came down to believing in my unique perspective and consistently putting myself out there. The learning curve never really stops, but that’s what keeps this work exciting.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I’m a Global Brand and Beauty Consultant specializing in social media strategy, influencer marketing, and community building for beauty, wellness, and lifestyle brands. With over 15 years of experience working across global markets, I partner directly with founders, CEOs, and creative teams to elevate brands through strategic storytelling and authentic community building.
What sets me apart is my ability to work holistically across multiple marketing disciplines—I call myself a “unicorn” consultant because brands can work with me instead of juggling multiple disconnected agencies. I’ve had the privilege of building strategies for some of the industry’s most iconic brands including Charlotte Tilbury, L’Oréal, Hourglass Cosmetics, 111SKIN, and Alo Yoga, plus I’ve worked alongside groundbreaking founders like Charlotte Tilbury, Lisa Eldridge, Marcia Kilgore, and Trinny Woodall.
I work with brands and founders of all sizes—from emerging indie brands to established global players—always through the lens of authentic storytelling, strategic marketing, and genuine community connection.
I’m particularly proud of my work as part of Charlotte Tilbury Beauty’s founding team, where I created and launched the brand’s entire global social media division and content strategy from scratch. During my tenure, Glamour Magazine, British Vogue, and The Los Angeles Times named it one of the best beauty accounts to follow on social media.
Beyond consulting, I’m also Founder and Host of The Beauty Sessions podcast—insider conversations with the industry’s most influential leaders. Whether we’re decoding viral marketing campaigns, exploring inclusive beauty, or getting the real story behind major brand transformations, the podcast delivers strategic intelligence you won’t find anywhere else. I’m also a regular contributor to Vogue Business, sharing insights on beauty marketing and trends.
How do you define success?
Success for me isn’t about a specific milestone—it’s about continuous growth. As long as I’m evolving my expertise, elevating my offerings, and genuinely helping the people I work with succeed, I feel fulfilled. That means supporting emerging founders as they build their brands, guiding freelancers who are just starting out in this industry, and partnering with established brands that need strategic direction. Success is knowing that my work creates tangible impact—whether that’s explosive social growth for a client, a founder finally articulating their brand story, or a fellow consultant gaining the confidence to position themselves properly. If I’m learning, growing, and lifting others up along the way, that’s success to me.
