Today we’d like to introduce you to Desiree Stevens.
Hi Desiree, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Hey Everybody-y-y! Desiree Stevens here, Vocalist & Founder of Heavens Rose Productions, an entertainment company.
I started singing as a very young girl. My mother shares a story that, when my identical twin sister and I were three years old, we both spontaneously broke out in song, hitting the same note at the exact same time. I’ve been singing ever since!
I grew up involved in music, participating in choir throughout middle and high school and playing the violin in middle school. In high school, I was part of two choral ensembles: Treble Choir, a Women’s Ensemble, and Chamber Singers, which represented my school in the community. During my senior year, I was honored with the trophy for Most Outstanding Senior in the entire choir department—my first music award!
Since then, I have achieved several professional milestones, including performing the National Anthem for the Los Angeles Lakers at the Crypto.com Arena, performing twice for the Palm Springs Power Baseball Team (including their championship game), and being invited to sing for The Angel City Football Club. I also recently won the Mayor’s Ball Award from The City of Riverside and the Riverside Arts Council for Best Musical Performance as a community headliner at the 2024 Riverside Arts & Music Festival. I have also shared a stage with Gladys Knight.
Currently, my primary focus is live performing and promoting my upcoming album, *GIFTED*, which is being released on November 21st. Pre-orders go live on November 13th. We will also be offering Black Friday deals on physical copies of the album (flash drives, CDs, and vinyl) and merch bundles, which will include my poetry, keychains, magnets, and “Hey Everybody-y-y!” t-shirts, starting at $30.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s has not been smooth, but I’ve been grateful. I’ve navigated depression and anxiety, but notice that when I focus on my blessings, they become more abundant.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a professional singer and KJ (karaoke curator). One of my key strengths as a charismatic entertainer and hostess is my bilingual ability, which allows me to seamlessly intertwine English and Spanish into my hosting. I also specialize in curating special outdoor karaoke experiences for fairs and festivals, offering a unique opportunity for families and youth to share their musical passions in a public setting.
As a performer, I’m known for my dynamic stage presence, and my “call and response” style of performing, engaging and connecting the audience to my performance.
One of the highlights of my career was being asked to do in a private party for three hours, and then asked to say for two additional hours because the group was so satisfied!
