Rising Stars: Meet Robbie Moreland of Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Robbie Moreland.

Hi Robbie, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
From a very young age, I’ve always had a love for fashion. I knew that’s exactly where I wanted to be as I grew up and learned more about the industry. My education taught me that the fashion industry has numerous negative impacts on the global and social environment. This information led me to the field of sustainable design.

When starting the Redesign Movement, I knew I wanted the organization to be more than a brand. Transforming from old to new, we strive to minimize our contribution to the problem by designing exclusively with donated materials. We don’t care solely about the environment. A large portion of donations is given back to the community through clothing drives.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Starting redesign movement was actually very smooth. Donations began to pour in, and I secured a partnership with Better Angels LA to host clothing drives throughout Los Angeles County.

We are now in our second year, and I believe that our biggest challenge is securing ongoing donations especially masculine clothing. As a newer organization, people are accustomed to donating to causes they recognize. Often, donating to stores resells their items.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Redesign Movement (RDM) is far more than a brand. It’s an economic and social effort to bring about change.

Specializing in designing sustainable fashion while simultaneously giving away free clothing around LA. Being able to create and give back makes me proudest.

At RDM, our mission is to empower individuals with both style and dignity, proving that sustainability and generosity can coexist.Through every piece we make and every garment we give, we aim to redefine what fashion can mean for our communities.

We envision a world where fashion uplifts rather than exploits — where creativity fuels compassion.

What’s next?
The future for RDM is expansion! I see a future in which Redesign Movement opens a facility to house more donations. We exist to transform the fashion industry and want to put on a fashion show in the upcoming year. We want to expand in all areas, creating more merchandise whose proceeds fund the expanding clothing drives. We would love to put together a clothing drive in other cities as well. We will also be launching a website at the beginning of next year.
