Check Out Carlos Lapin’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carlos Lapin.

Hi Carlos, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hi guys! I’m Carlos Lapin, an italian artist!
I started my project a few years ago with the goal of keeping track of my emotions through music. My approach to songwriting has always been like keeping a personal diary — a way to express myself and let go of what I needed to release.
My first two EPs reflect exactly that, both in their themes and in their sound: “Ferite Superficiali (I)” and “Ferite Superficiali (II)” were necessary steps to help me let go of certain ghosts from the past and move toward the future with a fresh perspective.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The biggest challenge in a musician’s work is always not losing faith in the future. Today anyone can make music, release it and share their voice with the world — which can be a good thing on one hand, but also a double-edged sword on the other: the music business is saturated, full. Still, that doesn’t mean there isn’t room for everyone, as contradictory as that may sound. You just have to find your own way of telling your story and never lose sight of your focus — whether your tracks get 10 plays or 10,000.
You have to do it for yourself first and foremost — do it because you can’t give it up, because you have no other choice. It’s like a calling; it goes beyond everything else!

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a pianist, songwriter, and composer. I write both the lyrics and the music for my songs, and I produce them in collaboration with KaleidoCloud.
In Italy, indie music is a major subgenre of pop that tends to follow certain unwritten rules. But my main influences aren’t Italian — I look much more toward Europe, from Spain to France, and of course, America. There’s an endless amount of artistic inspiration in the world, and it would be limiting to stop at one’s own country of origin. A perfect example of this is my latest single, “ti ho mai detto che mi manchi” — an Italian cover of “did i tell u that i miss u” by adore, featuring an interpolation of “Roi” by Videoclub. I’ve always loved that riff and both of those tracks, so I wanted to pay tribute to them in my own way — in true Lapin style. I also carried that vision into the visuals, with a music video shot in Sciacca (Sicily) together with Giuseppe Campo, featuring styling by Federico Ricotti.

For about a year now, I’ve been working on TikTok and social media in general, and it’s amazing how consistency can lead to real results. By posting every day, going live, and trying not only to follow trends but also to present myself to the world honestly — with both my strengths and my flaws — I’m building a community that supports me and motivates me every day to keep making music. Over 18,000 followers on TikTok and nearly a million views on YouTube are numbers I never thought I’d reach, but this just proves that the only way forward is to never stop and keep going!

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
I love reading — I’m always searching and discovering. Recently, I was blown away by “Young Mungo” by Douglas Stuart and “Mañana en la batalla piensa en mí” by Javier Marías. I also have to mention “The Let Them Theory” by Mel Robbins… though I could tell a whole story about that one — maybe another time!
I’m passionate about cinema and TV series — really, anything that can feed my creativity, including, every now and then, video games.
I won’t even start explaining how much music means to me — that would be obvious and an understatement… but can we talk a sec about “LUX” by ROSALÍA?!
