Today we’d like to introduce you to Yukari Watanabe.
Hi Yukari, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I established my restaurant in 2010 December. I started with one employee at beginning and after 15 years I have 6 part time employees. We serve unique kushiyaki and many small appetizers at Gotetsu. My goal was to make the restaurant like being in Japan kind of atmosphere in Ventura country. I love to introduce special dishes to our customers and have experience like they are in Tokyo. Providing one of the kind dining experience to customers since 2010.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road because Gotetsu style was not popular back in 2010, everyone like to eat Sushi. Gotetsu style skewers were not popular and I couldn’t promote due to high cost. Then Covid pandemic happened in 2020, keeping distance, wearing masks and shut down a week from being Covid positive employee. But I survived because I had helped from government.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Gotetsu restaurant specials in Kushiyaki (skewers) and small dishes. Serving filet mignon, Ribeye , Wagyu, Chicken and Vegetables with kushiyaki. And seasonal vegetables are available as well. Gotetsu also has original menu items that no other restaurant offers like Godzilla (spicy rice ball), cheese burger skewer, and Cameron deluxe skewer ( bacon wrapped ribeye and cheese with mayo sauce).
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I don’t believe so much in good luck, but I do believe in working hard. Be at Gotetsu everyday to make sure that serving the quality and consistent food.
