Today we’d like to introduce you to Sadhana Savani Brar.
Hi Sadhana, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My husband and business partner, Pardeep Brar, and I met at USC where we both were accepted into a 6 year accelerated program that included 2 years of undergraduates studies and 4 years of dental school. It was a challenging program, and the fact that we were both going through it together is part of what started our friendship. We became close through dental school and then started dating in 2003, when Pardeep was about to graduate (I had graduated a year earlier in 2002.) We each started practicing in various offices around the greater LA area and then purchased our own practices on very opposite sides of town (Inglewood and Glendora!) In 2007, we got married and settled in beautiful Pasadena. We continued to commute to our individual offices and then welcomed our children in 2012 and 2013. We started considering where we wanted to settle with our families and decided that our commutes were getting to be a drain on our lifestyle. It was a process but we ended up selling our offices and then began to look for something closer to home.
We never thought we’d end up working together, but we ended up purchasing a dental office together in Nov 2019 in Pasadena, which is a dream location for us. We love the community and our commute is about 12 minutes! We fully renovated the office to make it a soothing space that fits our personalities, It’s a lovely space that the previous dentist, Dr Villareal, had converted to a dental office back in the 80’s. We love the charming feel of this residential space converted into a dental office. We’ve added many modern technologies to be able to give patients the best care possible and our amazing team works hard to put patients at ease. We feel very grateful to practice our chosen profession in such an ideal environment for us.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
In the early years of practicing, I worked in several undesirable dental offices. As a new graduate, you sometimes have to take whatever work you find to pay the bills! I learned pretty quickly that there were certain offices that were more focused on the financial results rather than providing optimal patient care. As unpleasant as I found it to work in these environments, I quickly moved on from these offices and was able to learn what was important to me when it came to building my own office. I can say after 23 years of private practice experience in this field, that if you treat patients with respect and care, the finances take care of themselves and your business will thrive.
As you know, we’re big fans of Brar Family Dental Office Inc. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
We are a private dental practice that offers general and cosmetic dentistry. As a husband and wife team of doctors, we have a unique advantage of getting to bounce ideas off each other and work through difficult cases together. We’ve done hundreds of Invisalign cases over the years, and it’s been great to have two heads to treatment plan the more challenging cases. We are very avid users of technology to make the patient experience as pleasant as possible and provide optimal care. We’ve invested in digital scanners, CBCT imaging (3D xrays,) and provide same day crowns with our in house CAD/CAM milling. We take great pride in making our patients feel seen and heard in our office and our hygienists have been seeing some of the same patients for many years, offering a sense of comfort and familiarity. I’ve personally experienced the lack of personalized care or attention at certain medical offices and we don’t want our patients to experience that at our office. We work hard to treat everyone like family from front office to the dental chair.
What are your plans for the future?
We are looking to continue growing our knowledge with continuing dental education and adding technology as we see fit in our office. We love this community and plan on being here until we retire!
