Today we’d like to introduce you to Lana O’Rourke.
Hi Lana, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
For as long as I can remember, trauma has been a part of my story. From childhood experiences that left deep emotional scars to challenges in adulthood that echoed those early wounds, I lived for years in survival mode. The result was a lifetime of mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual disturbances that I couldn’t seem to escape. Anxiety, chronic pain, sleeplessness, and emotional exhaustion became familiar companions.
Like many people searching for relief, I turned to doctors, specialists, and professionals—hoping someone could “fix” me. I tried every modern treatment offered, only to find myself feeling even more disconnected from my body and my truth. The medications, diagnoses, and sterile environments treated my symptoms but never touched the root of my suffering. Instead of healing, I felt more broken than ever.
My turning point came when I began exploring holistic healing—specifically, trauma-informed yoga, meditation, breathwork, and somatic practices. These modalities invited me to turn inward instead of outward, to reconnect with my body instead of avoiding it. Through mindful movement, conscious breath, and embodied awareness, I began to understand that healing doesn’t happen through control—it happens through compassion, curiosity, and presence.
As I continued my practice, layer by layer, I released what had been buried in my nervous system for decades. Yoga taught me to feel safe in my body again. Meditation gave me space to witness my thoughts without becoming them. Breathwork became a bridge between my past pain and present peace. Somatic work taught me that my body wasn’t my enemy—it was my greatest teacher.
This journey inspired me to become what I most needed during my darkest times: a trauma-informed yoga teacher, meditation coach, breathwork facilitator, somatic practitioner, and holistic wellness guide. Today, I have the privilege of helping others reclaim their own power, release stored trauma, and rediscover a sense of wholeness that modern medicine often overlooks.
Healing is not linear—it’s a sacred unfolding. It’s not about erasing the past, but about learning to move through life with awareness, grace, and resilience. My story is proof that even the deepest wounds can become portals to profound transformation when we learn to listen to the wisdom within.
In the end, I didn’t find my healing in a prescription or a diagnosis. I found it in my breath, my body, and my spirit. I found it in stillness, movement, and self-compassion. And most importantly, I found it in remembering that I was never broken—I was simply becoming whole.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Healing has not been a smooth or easy road for me. In fact, it’s been one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. People often see the light, peace, and strength I carry today, but they don’t always see the darkness I had to walk through to get here. The truth is—it got worse before it got better.
When I began my healing journey, I thought it would be calming and peaceful, but instead, it was raw, messy, and deeply uncomfortable. As I started peeling back the layers of my trauma, everything I had pushed down for years began to surface—the pain, the memories, the grief, the fear. I had spent most of my life avoiding those feelings by numbing, distracting, suppressing, or escaping. I had mastered the art of surviving, but I didn’t know how to truly feel.
Through trauma-informed yoga, meditation, breathwork, and somatic practices, I was forced to face what I had been running from. I had to learn to feel in order to heal—to sit with emotions that scared me, to breathe through the discomfort, and to let my body release what it had held onto for decades. There were days when I felt like I was falling apart. There were moments when I questioned whether I was strong enough to keep going.
Healing demanded that I surrender the illusion of control. It required patience, consistency, and a willingness to sit in the unknown. I had to meet myself with compassion when old patterns resurfaced, when my nervous system felt overwhelmed, and when my progress felt invisible. I had to accept that healing isn’t linear—it’s a dance of expansion and contraction, progress and pause, breakthrough and breakdown.
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that healing isn’t about perfection or arriving somewhere. It’s a daily practice, a lifelong relationship with yourself. Some days feel light and effortless, and others feel heavy and hard. But every time I choose to breathe instead of shut down, to feel instead of numb, to stay instead of run—I’m healing.
There’s no finish line in this work, only a deeper sense of awareness and self-compassion that grows over time. True healing isn’t about erasing the past; it’s about learning to live in peace with it. And while the road has been anything but smooth, it’s been the most honest, freeing, and transformative journey of my life.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
The Royal Healing Tribe is more than a business — it’s a sacred space for transformation, healing, and connection. I founded it with the vision of creating a trauma-informed wellness community that honors the whole person — mind, body, and spirit. We specialize in helping individuals navigate and heal from trauma, chronic pain, mental and emotional disorders, and nervous system dysregulation through holistic, evidence-based practices.
What sets The Royal Healing Tribe apart is our deeply trauma-informed and heart-centered approach. Every class, session, and offering is designed with safety, compassion, and nervous system awareness at its core. I understand firsthand what it means to live with trauma and the courage it takes to begin healing, which is why every aspect of my work prioritizes creating a supportive and empowering environment for each individual.
I specialize in trauma-informed yoga, meditation, breathwork, somatic healing, and holistic wellness practices that help people reconnect with their bodies, release stored trauma, and find peace within themselves. My teachings blend ancient wisdom with modern science — merging mindfulness, nervous system regulation, and embodiment techniques to support true, lasting healing.
The Royal Healing Tribe offers both virtual and group sessions, retreats, and community healing events. Our retreats, in particular, are something I’m incredibly proud of — they are all-inclusive healing experiences designed to nurture the soul. From yoga and sound healing to guided meditation, nature immersion, and nourishing gourmet meals, these retreats provide a safe space for individuals to rest, release, and reconnect.
What I’m most proud of, brand-wise, is the authenticity behind it. The Royal Healing Tribe was born from my own lived experience — my journey through C-PTSD and self-healing. Everything I offer has been personally practiced, experienced, and embodied. It’s not just about teaching wellness — it’s about living it.
Our mission is to remind people that healing is possible — no matter how deep the pain runs or how long you’ve carried it. We believe that everyone deserves to feel safe, seen, and sovereign in their own body. That’s why our approach is gentle yet powerful, informed yet intuitive, and rooted in compassion.
At The Royal Healing Tribe, we don’t just teach healing — we walk beside you as you rediscover your wholeness. My hope is that every person who connects with our tribe leaves feeling more empowered, grounded, and free — remembering that they are not broken; they are becoming whole.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
The wellness industry is evolving in such a powerful way, and I’m excited to be part of that growth. I believe the next 5–10 years will bring an even greater shift toward trauma-informed, nervous system–based, and holistic approaches to healing. People are beginning to understand that true wellness isn’t just about fitness or mindfulness — it’s about emotional regulation, nervous system repair, and energetic alignment. We’re moving beyond surface-level self-care into deeper, embodied healing practices that honor the whole person.
For me personally, I see this expansion as an opportunity to share my work with a much wider audience. I’m in the process of starting my own YouTube channel, where I’ll be sharing guided trauma-informed yoga, meditation, breathwork, and holistic wellness practices. My goal is to make healing accessible to anyone, anywhere — especially for those who might not have access to trauma-informed care locally.
I also plan to host retreats internationally, offering people the chance to heal and reconnect in sacred, natural environments across the world. There’s something incredibly transformative about traveling to a new place, stepping away from the noise of daily life, and immersing yourself in deep rest, nature, and community.
As the industry grows, I believe more people will seek authenticity — teachers and practitioners who embody what they teach, who walk the path themselves, and who create safe spaces for others to do the same. That’s the future I see and the future I’m helping to build through The Royal Healing Tribe: a world where healing is accessible, embodied, and deeply human.
