Today we’d like to introduce you to Tanisha Davis.
Hi Tanisha, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Absolutely. My journey started with a love for storytelling and a desire to amplify voices that often go unheard. What began as a passion for writing evolved into creating platforms and opportunities for others to share their truths. Over time, I’ve grown through experience, resilience, and faith, turning challenges into fuel for my purpose. Every step has led me closer to doing the work I love – using media and storytelling to inspire, inform, and empower.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not at all. The road has definitely had its challenges. As both an author and editor, I’ve faced moments of self-doubt, rejection, and the pressure to balance creativity with deadlines. There were times when I questioned if my voice truly mattered or if my work was making an impact. But every obstacle taught me something valuable—how to trust my vision, protect my peace, and keep showing up even when things got tough. Those struggles shaped my perspective and made me even more passionate about helping other writers find and share their voices too.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m an author, editor, and storyteller who’s passionate about creating space for authentic voices—especially people of color—to be heard and celebrated. Through my work, I help writers and creatives bring their stories to life in a way that feels true to who they are. I’m best known for my ability to connect real-life experiences with purpose-driven storytelling, whether it’s through my books or my work in magazine publishing.
What I’m most proud of is using my platform to inspire others to embrace their truth and turn pain into purpose. What sets me apart is my genuine love for storytelling that heals, uplifts, and empowers. I don’t just focus on words—I focus on the heart behind them.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, I was a big dreamer. I spent a lot of time in my own world, daydreaming and creating stories in my head. I loved writing poetry and short stories, and books were my escape—they opened my mind to endless possibilities. I was curious, creative, and always observing the world around me. Even then, I think I knew storytelling would always be a part of who I am.
