Daily Inspiration: Meet Kassy Dieujuste

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kassy Dieujuste.

Hi Kassy, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’m a mother of four and the founder of a woman-owned design-build firm in the construction industry — a field that’s still very much male-dominated. I started my business from scratch, driven by a genuine love for architecture, buildings, and design.

Even while managing life with multiple sclerosis, I’ve continued to build and grow my company. The challenges that come with MS have taught me strength, patience, and creativity — qualities that have carried over into how I run my business and lead my team.

My company specializes in remodeling residential and commercial properties and creating complete design-build experiences. We handle everything from custom cabinetry and tile to slabs and finishes — everything it takes to transform a space from start to finish.

We also create 3D drafts and renderings that allow clients to see their space before construction even begins. This is part of what we call “the design process,” a step-by-step system we developed to walk clients through how their finished space will look and feel. It includes a clear visualization of materials, finishes, and layout — along with detailed cost breakdowns — so clients can understand the full scope of their project before breaking ground or breaking the bank.

Over the years, we’ve been proud to work on projects like the Crocker Club in downtown Los Angeles — our first major gig — and restaurant remodels including Harold & Belle’s. We’ve also been featured in the Pasadena Showcase House in both 2009 and 2020.

My love for this work started young. I was always a bit of a tomboy, fascinated by old buildings and the way materials told a story — the texture of tile, the weight of wood, the craftsmanship that lasts through time. That appreciation shaped how I built my business: focusing on kitchens and baths, which I see as the heart of every home.

At the end of the day, what drives me is creating spaces that reflect strength, beauty, and authenticity — the same qualities that helped me build this company and the life I love.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it definitely hasn’t been a smooth road — but I don’t think it’s supposed to be. The challenges are what shape you. Without obstacles, you’d never truly understand where you’re going or what you’re capable of overcoming.

Every setback has taught me something valuable. I’ve learned that mistakes aren’t really failures — they’re lessons. Each one shows you what not to do next time and how to approach things differently. Those lessons are what helped me grow not only as a business owner but also as a person.

The journey has had its highs and lows, but every challenge has added depth, strength, and direction to what I’m building.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My firm specializes in complete design-build remodeling, with are a one stop shop We handle everything from the initial design concepts and 3D renderings to the actual construction and installation. What sets us apart is that we don’t just design; we build what we design. That means our clients get a seamless process from vision to completion.

We’re known for our attention to detail, quality craftsmanship, and our ability to bring personality into every space. My team and I also provide custom materials — like cabinetry, tile, and slabs — which allows us to curate every element of a project and make sure everything fits together beautifully.

Another thing that makes us different is our design process — a system we created to help clients visualize their projects before we start construction. Through 3D drawings and detailed cost breakdowns, we make it easy for clients to understand what their space will look like and what it will cost, long before a single wall is opened.

Our approach is personal, creative, and transparent. We treat every project like it’s our own — and that’s what keeps our clients coming back and referring us again and again.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
Honestly, what I love most isn’t tied to a specific city — it’s the work itself. No matter where I am, I love being able to create, design, and build spaces that transform how people live and feel in their environments. Every project brings new inspiration, new challenges, and new stories.

If I had to choose something I like least, it would probably be how fast-paced everything can be — sometimes the beauty of craftsmanship takes patience, and not everyone wants to wait for that. But even that pushes me to stay focused on quality over convenience.

At the end of the day, my joy comes from the process — bringing ideas to life, no matter the city or the zip code.
