Today we’d like to introduce you to Paris Dylan.
Hi Paris, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
That’s a big question with a not so clear answer, but I’ll try. I started in the film industry very hungry and took every opportunity I could find; from background work and student films to small on-set roles that taught me the fundamentals of the art and professionalism on set. Those early experiences gave me a deep appreciation for the collaborative process and prepared me for the transition into paid gigs, television appearances, and eventually leading roles in feature films. Each project became a stepping stone, allowing me to grow both in front of and behind the camera.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
That seems like a rhetorical question! But I’ll bite. It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road; but that’s part of what makes the journey meaningful. Like most actors, I started with more “no’s” than “yes’s.” There were long stretches without work, projects that fell through at the last minute, and moments of self-doubt where I questioned whether I was on the right path. And guess what… it’s still like that. But I quickly understood that breaking into the industry means constantly putting yourself out there; audition after audition, rejection after rejection… while still showing up with the same passion every time. It taught me resilience, patience, and the importance of staying grounded in why I started doing this in the first place.
You’re asking about some struggles I’ve faced, well, just navigating the unpredictable nature of independent filmmaking itself is a challenge. When you’re not just acting but also producing and directing, you face every obstacle firsthand; from budget constraints and scheduling conflicts to distribution hurdles. There were times I wore ten hats at once just to get a project across the finish line. But those experiences shaped me into a more well-rounded creative. Every challenge, every tough day on set, ultimately strengthened my commitment to storytelling and made me more grateful for every win, big or small.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
For over a decade, acting, writing, producing, and directing has paid the bills. I specialize in grounded, emotionally charged performances that explore the human condition through complex characters and building raw, cinematic worlds. Over the years, I’ve become known for my versatility; shifting between drama, thriller, and comedy, and also for being “An actor’s Director”.
Ok, more bragging time. What I’m most proud of is the creative independence I’ve built. My films have earned over 100 awards and nominations at festivals worldwide, including recognition for Dying to Sleep, a psychological thriller that I’m especially proud of for its emotional depth and cinematic ambition. The comedy series, “Tiger Dick” and crime feature “Gunther” also both hold a special place on my career-mantle as well as getting an Emmy Nomination from the drama series, “The Bay”. Beyond accolades, what sets me apart is my work ethic and my ability to bring a project to life from concept to completion; not just as a performer, but as a full creative force. I’ve learned to know how to bob-and-weave challenges, to collaborate with passion, and to make every story personal. At the end of the day, I think that’s what resonates most; the willingness to take risks, stay authentic, and leave everything on the screen.
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Something that might surprise people who know my work is that before I ever stepped onto a film set, I was on stage with my pop-punk band. Music was my first creative outlet; writing songs and recording tracks that eventually made their way onto Spotify, along with a music video we released independently. I still make time to jam and record whenever I can, because music keeps me grounded and connected to that creative energy that started it all.
Another thing people might not know is that I come from very humble beginnings. I was born in a trailer park in Alaska, raised by a big, loving family who taught me the value of hard work, positivity, and being who you are. That upbringing gave me the perspective to appreciate every step of this journey; from those early days up north to now working in Hollywood. It’s a long way from where I started, but I carry those roots with me in everything I do.
