Today we’d like to introduce you to Suzie Arman.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
For years, my world revolved around being a stay-at-home mom, raising my kids, documenting their little milestones, and capturing every moment I could with my camera. What started as a simple love for preserving memories quickly grew into a passion for photography. I realized how much joy it brought me to freeze time, not just for my own family, but for others too.
After tragically losing my middle child, I realized how deeply I regretted not taking enough photos to look back on, not having those little memories to hold onto and revisit. That loss changed me and became one of the biggest reasons I pursued photography more seriously. I wanted to create those moments for other families and give them the gift of images they could treasure forever.
Once my kids were old enough and a bit more independent, I decided it was time to take a leap. I went back to school and earned my degree in Photography, balancing motherhood, coursework, and a growing desire to create something of my own. During that time, I began taking on a few clients here and there, friends, neighbors, and families who believed in me. Through their referrals, encouragement, and trust, my little side project started to flourish.
Before I knew it, my business had taken off. What once felt like a dream slowly became my full-time career. Photography became my creative outlet and my connection to people, families celebrating milestones, new parents welcoming their babies, couples capturing their love. Every session reminded me why I started to create images that tell stories and preserve moments that mean everything.
Today, I’m proud to say that my business continues to grow, not through big advertising budgets, but through genuine relationships, word-of-mouth referrals, and an amazing community of clients who have turned into friends. Social media has become my number one outlet — a space to share my work, connect with families, and showcase the heart behind every photo I take.
Photography has given me more than a career, it’s given me purpose, a hobby, balance, and a way to celebrate life’s most beautiful chapters.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
When I first started, I was juggling so many roles — mom, student, business owner, and photographer. There were late nights editing after the kids went to bed, early mornings setting up shoots, and moments of self-doubt wondering if I could really turn my passion into something sustainable. Definitely been a fun ride, but not always a smooth one. Also balancing my schedule with my husband’s busy work life while raising our kids and building my business hasn’t been easy. There were plenty of late nights and long days trying to make it all work, but every challenge has been worth it. The hard days has taught me how to adapt, stay focused, and keep moving forward doing what I love.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’ve always considered myself an artist because photography, to me, is more than just taking pictures, it’s storytelling through emotion, connection, and light. My goal is to capture moments that feel genuine, the kind of images that bring you right back to how that moment felt.
I specialize in newborn, milestone, and family photography, creating sessions that are relaxed, natural, and full of warmth. Whether it’s a cozy in-home studio setup or an outdoor session surrounded by nature, I focus on bringing out real smiles, genuine interactions, and the unique beauty of every family I photograph.
What I’m most proud of is how far I’ve come — building this business from the ground up while balancing motherhood and a busy family life. Every family who steps in front of my camera trusts me to capture some of their most special memories, and that means everything to me.
What sets me apart is the experience I provide. From the moment clients reach out, I want them to feel cared for, understood, and excited. I take time to style each session thoughtfully, paying attention to every detail, from colors and props to lighting and posing, so each gallery feels cohesive and elevated, yet still natural.
Over the years, my clients often tell me that I make the process easy and fun, even for the little ones who aren’t always thrilled about taking photos. That’s the biggest compliment — knowing I can turn what could feel like “just a session” into a lasting memory.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
Over the next five to ten years, I think photography will continue to evolve with new styles, trends, and technology — but at its heart, it will always be about storytelling and connection. I love keeping up with creative trends, exploring new locations, and finding fresh ways to make each session feel unique.
As for my own growth, I’ve recently started venturing into small and intimate weddings, and I’ve really fallen in love with them. Capturing those personal, emotional moments in such a close setting feels like a natural extension of what I already do with families. Beyond that, I don’t see myself changing much, just continuing to grow.
