Hi Alisha, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
When people ask me how I got started designing wedding veils and where One Blushing Bride is today, I often think: it was never one big leap — it was a series of small steps, rooted in passion and a belief that bridal accessories deserve as much thought and love as the gown itself.
It began with a family moment. Years ago, my cousin asked me to make her veil. I remember standing beside my small sewing machine, carefully draping lace and stitching by hand. The joy of creating something so personal — something she would wear on the most important day of her life — that feeling never left me. From that veil, I realized I could bring that same care and intentionality to more brides.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
When I first started, I was chasing perfection. I believed that if I could just make the “perfect” veil, the perfect brand image, the perfect social media feed, suddenly I would feel “enough.” Over time, I realized that was a trap — both creatively and emotionally.
I used to avoid posting photos of myself or speaking openly because I thought I had to remain “perfect.” But brides don’t connect with perfection — they connect with authenticity. Over time, I learned that my story, with its stumbles and insecurities, makes me relatable and trustworthy. Without God’s help, I would not have made it. My faith is crucial to any “success” I can claim.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I’ve never naturally seen myself as a risk-taker — in fact, I’m the opposite. I like stability, I value preparation, and I tend to think things through (probably more than I need to). But starting One Blushing Bride was, in itself, one of the biggest risks I’ve ever taken. I walked away from a stable, traditional career as a paralegal in a law firm to build something entirely from my own two hands. There was no safety net, no guarantees, just a lot of late nights, a sewing machine, and a dream.
Because taking risks doesn’t come naturally to me, I’ve learned to intentionally build risk into my decision-making. I’ve set a personal rule that at least 5% of my business decisions have to feel “out there” — whether that’s launching a new product that scares me a little, saying yes to a bold collaboration, investing in a new opportunity, or sharing something more vulnerable with my audience. It’s my way of gently stretching myself without throwing everything up in the air at once.
