Check Out Jeff Hedgecock’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeff Hedgecock.

Hi Jeff, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I decided to become a chiropractor because I saw my dad helping so many people. I have always had a knack for science and biology. I also love working with my hands, so chiropractic was a great fit. I graduated in 1993 from Cleveland Chiropractic College in Los Angeles, CA. I first practiced in La Costa, then in Newport Beach. I owned a surgery center for 11 years and specialized in Manipulation Under Anesthesia. While in private practice, I also ran a neuro-diagnostic testing company, was an instructor for the CA Board of Examiners. I’m currently starting to teach and consult on neuro-diagnostic testing.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I think the hardest thing you can do is work for yourself. Even when things are good, you need to discipline yourself to keep going. But the benefits outweigh working for someone else. It can be challenging having so many people depend on you. However, I wouldn’t change it for the world.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My wife of 30 years has suffered from 5 traumatic brain injuries. This has put me in a caregiver role that makes it difficult to balance work and life. I paint and play guitar. I also write a lot of music and lyrics. Creativity is my therapy to balance the stress of life

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Find the people doing what you want to do that are successful, then do what they are doing. Be true to yourself. Find a passion so that you’re more likely to stick with your plan. If you don’t love what you do, what’s the point in doing it?
