Hi Olha, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I lived in Ukraine. I worked, built a life, raised two daughters. We had a cozy house in Zaporizhzhia, our own business, a beloved family. It seemed everything was going according to plan — until February 24, 2022, which changed everything.
The Russian invasion turned life upside down. We woke up in another reality — full of fear and pain.
On February 28, an explosion happened near our house. The children cried, asking if they would live. I realized that I needed to leave, to save the children. My daughters — the older one 9 years old and the younger 6 — and I took the “Zaporizhzhia–Lviv” train. 28 hours of travel, 1,200 kilometers across the country. The carriages were overcrowded, stuffy, hot, but we made it. My kids were tired and scared, but alive.
Poland welcomed us with warmth. They fed us, gave us warm clothes, blankets. We lived there for two months, rented an apartment, arranged our life. There was no help, but we held on.
Then we moved to Germany, where we lived another three months — in abandoned airports, in containers for refugees, waiting for the interview at the US embassy. Five months with one suitcase and two children — a trial they will remember forever.
There I realized how much I missed the usual self-care. And a dream was born — to create a beauty salon where every woman would feel care and warmth.
When I arrived in America, the dream of opening a salon seemed difficult. I lacked strength, I worried that I would not cope. But my husband and his mother Larisa supported me. They said that a sincere desire to make people happy will surely bring success. This inspired me.
My doctor Valeriy also helped me, who rented out a space so that I could start my business. His support was very important to me.
And so, having rented a small space in Santa Monica, I began accepting clients. At first, for free, for those who especially needed care. People came not only for beauty but also for support, warmth.
Thus my salon appeared — a place where beauty is combined with humanity. I gathered a team of professionals who, like me, want to give joy and beauty.
Our motto is simple: “Your beauty and satisfaction — our main goal.”
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Of course! When I opened the salon, I had to overcome many difficulties. The language barrier was one of the biggest challenges, and every action was hard to accomplish. I used translators, contacted various services to handle paperwork, and every step seemed complicated. But thanks to the help of kind, responsive people who were by my side, I was able to overcome all obstacles and make my dream come true. This is how my perseverance and the support of loved ones led to success!

Once, a woman came to our salon and spent the entire day with us — she got a manicure, pedicure, eyelash extensions, makeup, hair coloring, and styling. At the end of the day, she brought us a cake, chocolates, and champagne, and with tears in her eyes, said that we had become her family. She thanked us for the support and for being not just a salon, but people she wanted to share joyful moments with. We celebrated her birthday together and were deeply grateful for that warmth.
