Hi Fernando, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’m originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina. I moved to California in 2003 at age 21 to follow my passion for BMX. I began riding and competing at the highest level alongside the same athletes I used to watch on videos, it was truly a dream come true. About ten years later, as I transitioned out of competing, a friend and I started a business building bicycles and furniture. Our goal was to secure a deal with Walmart, and after two years in business, we achieved it. That experience taught us a lot about running and scaling a business. Then in 2020, during COVID, a friend asked me to help him build a camper van for us to sell. I had so much fun with that project and saw real potential in the industry. That’s how my latest business, The Camper Haus, was born.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Moving to California at a young age, leaving my family behind for a country where I didn’t know anyone or speak the language, wasn’t easy. But when you’re chasing a dream, you find ways to overcome every obstacle and make it happen. Every challenge has helped me grow. Starting from scratch in a new country was already a big step, and later, running my own businesses came with constant learning. Each obstacle has taught me something valuable about perseverance, adaptability, and problem solving.

The Camper Haus is a custom camper van conversion company. We specialize in turning Mercedes-Benz Sprinter cargo vans into fully personalized camper vans that meet each customer’s unique needs. We’re proud to create vans that are fully livable spaces people love to travel in, and we’re especially proud that many customers fly in from other states to have us do their conversions. Beyond the builds themselves, we focus on providing an exceptional customer experience, guiding clients through every step of the process. Our goal is for anyone who works with us to feel that their camper van is truly one of a kind.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Consistency and not giving up after setbacks has been crucial to my success. In the early days of starting a new business, there were weeks where I worked 15 hours a day, sometimes for six weeks straight with no days off. It was challenging, but sometimes that’s what it takes to build something from the ground up and turn it into a profitable business.
