Exploring Life & Business with Jaime Hepp of TAG

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jaime Hepp.

Hi Jaime, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started my entrepreneurial journey during my summer break in college. This is where I was introduced to commission only door-to-door sales. It completely stretched my comfort zone and helped build necessary business muscles.
I eventually figured out how to be a productive sales person, and I figured out how to scale and teach these sales skills. I started my business in Los Angeles in January of 2000. It was a humbling beginning. I had little to no track record, so most clients didn’t want to take a chance on me. Our team worked hard representing small, local restaurants. We always asked for letters of recommendation if they felt we did an outstanding job representing them. With letters of recommendation in hand, we worked with golf courses, auto shops, chain restaurants, ski resorts, and others. Our futures were really bright when large telecommunication companies took a chance on us. As we succeeded with these large giant Fortune 100 companies, doors opened for us to represent Amazon and some of the other great companies on the planet.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has been a very difficult journey. Struggles included key personnel quitting, clients parting ways with us, sacrificing time (80 hour work weeks), and living at airports traveling around the country.

As you know, we’re big fans of TAG. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
TAG is the face behind many of the most respected and biggest brands in the world. We are known for our energetic, professional, brand-enhancing team of business professionals. Truly, our people are our pride and joy.

TAG has been ranked as one of the Best Businesses to Work For in Southern California year over year (Los Angeles Business Journal and Orange County Business Journal). TAG has also been awarded one of the Top 101 Best and Brightest Companies in the United States (Source: 101bestandbrightest.com).

We pride ourselves in a great company culture where our people are empowered to grow personally and professionally. Our people have unlimited growth potential as our company continues to expand throughout the United States and Canada.

TAG has an impressive list of Fortune 500 clients in various industries (Telecommunications, On-line Retailers, E-Commerce, and Energy). We prefer to not list the names of our clients on this site. These clients spend millions of dollars on advertising (emails, tv, radio, billboards, social media, etc) to grow their customer bases. All of our clients face the same challenge: their consumers are inundated with too much information – it’s difficult to get their attention. Our clients need a much more creative approach to get their messages and products in front of their customers.

We acquire and retain customers for our clients in a PERSONALIZED manner. Our representatives are very friendly and social – giving our clients the personalized branding they desire. These 1-on-1 presentations translate into thousands of new customers every month. We make these personal face-to-face presentations in 3 different arenas: 1) Retail Big Box Stores, 2) Business-to-Business, and 3). Business-to-Consumer.

In a world of digital everything, it’s not common for Fortune 500 companies to have personal relationships with their customers. TAG is the face and personality for these large corporations.

With our clients’ insatiable appetites to grow their businesses, we have been given larger budgets year over year. Our professionalism and integrity have been our rocket fuel to continuously expand our business over the last 20 years. TAG has a reputation of developing some of the best sales people, leaders, and managers across the continent.

There are plenty of companies that compete in this industry. Our competitive advantage is to add great character to our model. Our clients know us as the team that “gets results with integrity”.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
– Integrity and character. “Charisma gets your foot in the door, but your character keeps your feet in the door.”
– Persistence
– Genuine, sincere interest in others
– Good decision making
– Good priority management
