Inspiring Conversations with Tsoline Konialian of Tsoline Konialian Psychological Services, Inc.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tsoline Konialian.

Hi Tsoline, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My journey into psychology began with a deep-rooted curiosity about the human mind and a personal experience that profoundly shaped my path. Growing up, I always felt drawn to helping others, but it wasn’t until my brother faced a serious illness that I truly began to understand the importance of mental health. Witnessing his struggles and the impact they had on our family ignited a passion within me to support others facing similar challenges.

As I started taking courses in psychology, I felt a surge of excitement as we delved into topics like cognition and emotional processes. It was then that I realized this was more than just a subject to me; it was my calling. I found immense joy in working with people, connecting , understanding their perspectives, and helping them navigate their challenges.

Empathy and compassion are essential in this field, and I strive to embody these qualities in every interaction. My brother’s battle inspired me to pursue this career, and I continue to honor his journey by dedicating myself to helping others find healing and resilience. Today, as a clinical psychologist, I am grateful for the opportunity to support individuals in their journeys toward self-discovery and well being.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road to becoming a clinical psychologist has certainly had its ups and downs. Growing up, my family instilled in me the importance of optimism and positivity, teaching me to stay in tune with people’s needs. This foundation has been invaluable in my journey, helping me navigate the challenges I’ve faced along the way.

However, the path hasn’t always been smooth. Balancing school with work was particularly challenging. I had to stay focused and dedicated, often juggling multiple responsibilities, which could be draining. While I was passionate about my studies and my desire to help others, the demands of life sometimes made it difficult to maintain that balance.

In the field of psychology, there’s a natural inclination to want to rescue and support those in need. Yet, one of the most difficult aspects is working with individuals who may not be ready to seek help or make positive changes in their thoughts and behaviors. It can be disheartening when you see the potential for growth in someone, but they aren’t interested in taking that step.

Despite these challenges, my passion for understanding the human mind and helping others remains steadfast. Each experience, whether positive or negative, has contributed to my growth as both a person and a professional, reinforcing my commitment to this important work.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My practice specializes in working with individuals facing mood disorders (anxiety, depression, OCD, PTSD) and trauma-related issues. I focus on providing a supportive and compassionate environment where clients can explore their experiences and emotions. By employing evidence-based therapeutic approaches, I aim to help individuals gain insight into their challenges and develop effective coping strategies.

What sets my practice apart is my commitment to a holistic approach. I believe that understanding each person’s unique story is essential for effective treatment, and I tailor my methods to meet their specific needs. This personalized approach allows for deeper connections and more meaningful progress in therapy.

I am particularly proud of the supportive community I’ve cultivated within my practice. Clients often express that they feel heard and valued, which is a testament to the safe space we create together. Additionally, I strive to stay informed about the latest research and techniques in psychology, ensuring that my clients receive the most effective care possible.

Ultimately, I want readers to know that my practice is dedicated to helping individuals navigate their mental health challenges with empathy and understanding. Whether someone is dealing with a mood disorder or the effects of trauma, my goal is to empower them on their journey to healing and self-discovery.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
I believe that empathy is the most important quality contributing to my success. In the field of psychology, being able to genuinely understand and connect with others’ experiences is crucial. Empathy allows me to create a safe space for clients to express their thoughts and feelings, fostering trust and openness.

Alongside empathy, having compassion is essential. It drives me to approach each situation with kindness and understanding, recognizing that everyone is facing their own unique challenges. Good clinical judgment is also vital; it enables me to assess situations thoughtfully and make informed decisions without passing judgment. Balancing these qualities—empathy, compassion, and clinical judgment—has been critical in navigating the complexities of this field and supporting those I work with effectively. Additionally, my curiosity about people’s stories and motivations fuels my commitment to ongoing personal and professional growth, ensuring that I can adapt and provide the best care.
