MannYtheDrummeR, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Born in North Philadelphia, PA into a musical family, I began playing drums at 4 and became the drummer at my grandfather’s church, North Providence Baptist, by age 9. By 12, I was performing around the city with my Uncle Paul, earning a whole $150 per Sunday.
After graduating HighSchool, I moved to Los Angeles in 2005 to attend Musicians Institute at 17. I soon began auditioning and landed my first gig with Pharrell’s artist Kenna, which led to Chester French and a Music Director/Drummer role for Amerie. Since then, now 2025 I’ve shared stages and worked with Travie McCoy, Kid Cudi, Faith Evans,Wiz Khalifa, Ashlee Simpson, Diddy, and Kehlani to name a few.
Back in 2012, I co-founded the band Ghost Town, signing with FBR/Atlantic Records until 2016. I later transitioned into film composition, scoring three feature films and four short films on Amazon Prime…never to leave drums behind.
Today, I’m a member of The Audacity, recently signed to my second record deal, while continuing to compose for film and perform with solo artists whenever possible.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
In the beginning it was a bit difficult bc I was only 18 during my first tour. Having to sit backstage or on the tour bus while not on’stage performing was a bummer. When I first got busy working in my field, it was a challenge maintaining work with solo artist bc I’d dip into different prioritized bands and projects. Music Directors started to place me in a “box”. Still til this day slightly, but I don’t care much.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Aside from Chill, Dope, Funny, Chinky and Controversial…I’m a professional musician, producer and film composer. Known for being versatile in all genres from HipHop, Pop, R&B, RockNRoll. Executing them to my best in their respected lane….. I guess it’s the same with film composing. Being able to write for Animations, Comedy, Action, Horror etc and also execute those well.
I’m a good Cook, Fashionista and an Artist as well….as in Painting and Drawing(a few hidden talents)
Any big plans?
Making it to Heaven, bc I’m part-time crazy…Haha.. Seriously tho. In the music realm, I guess I see myself as the next Jered Leto of my generation. Both the Music and Film guy. Playing drums with cool artist and touring the world while also writing music for Film, TV and Movies. By 2028 my plan is to have my own music company working out of LosAngeles with studio properties in Atlanta. Both recording artist sessions and an orchestra sound stage. I’ve been raised to be a giver so my plan is to develop an online database for musicians to get hired for work. Guaranteeing them proper and fair compensation for their services. This branch of my company will also help bring music back into schools as it should be…
