Today we’d like to introduce you to Puja Sohi.
Hi Puja, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
“Legacy isn’t about what you leave behind—it’s about what you build while you’re here.”
I’ve always believed that true wealth isn’t built in silos—it’s built holistically, when every part of your financial world moves in harmony. That belief has guided my entire journey.
Early in my career, I noticed a serious gap: entrepreneurs, founders, and families were surrounded by specialists—tax advisors, investment managers, estate planners—but no one was connecting the dots. Everyone was optimizing one piece of the puzzle while the bigger picture was being neglected. That realization lit a fire in me.
In 2017, Avneet Kaur and I decided to build what didn’t exist—a family office model that served active wealth creators, not just passive investors. That vision became Core Family Office, a modern, vertically integrated ecosystem designed to unify tax strategy, wealth management, real estate, business advisory, and philanthropy under one roof.
What started as two women with a shared conviction has grown into a global enterprise with over two hundred professionals across six countries. Along the way, I co-founded Tax Family Office to deliver institutional-level tax strategy and compliance support for entrepreneurs and growing businesses.
Then I became part of the Board of Advisors for Elemental Eco Holdings and Ecotechture Global, where I now help shape global strategies around sustainable energy, modular data centers, and climate-resilient infrastructure. Along the way, I also built my own family’s platform—Sohi Family Office—focused on energy, infrastructure, and technology investments that align legacy with impact.
My mission has evolved beyond finance—it’s about creating systems that solve real-world challenges and empower communities across generations. Through it all, I’ve learned that innovation and tradition don’t have to exist on opposite ends—they can, and should, coexist.
The journey has been anything but linear. It’s been bold, demanding, and deeply rewarding. But that’s what makes it meaningful. Because at the end of the day, what we’ve built isn’t just a company—it’s a movement toward smarter, more conscious wealth creation, and a new standard for what legacy can look like.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Not even close—and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Building something new in an industry as traditional as finance comes with resistance. When Avneet and I started Core Family Office, we weren’t just offering another service—we were challenging the status quo. We were two women creating a model that didn’t exist yet, and that alone came with its share of raised eyebrows.
Early on, there were the usual hurdles: building trust, finding the right talent, and scaling while maintaining the integrity of our vision. But the biggest challenge was convincing people that holistic wealth management wasn’t just a luxury concept—it was the future. We had to prove that integrating tax strategy, estate planning, investment, and business advisory under one roof didn’t just make sense; it delivered better outcomes.
Then came expansion—across countries, time zones, and industries. There were moments of exhaustion, times when I questioned whether the infrastructure could keep up with the ambition. But every setback taught me to operate from resilience, not reaction.
The truth is, smooth roads don’t build strong leaders. The bumps, the pivots, the pressure—they shaped me into someone who doesn’t just adapt to change, but builds systems that thrive on it. Today, every challenge we faced in the early years is the foundation of how Core and Tax Family Office operate—disciplined, visionary, and unafraid to disrupt.
We’ve been impressed with Core Family Office, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
At its core, everything I’ve built revolves around one mission—helping people create, grow, and preserve wealth with purpose.
Through Core Family Office, we’ve built a vertically integrated ecosystem that brings together tax planning, wealth management, real estate, philanthropy, business advisory, estate planning, and CFO services—all under one roof. Most firms focus on one slice of a client’s financial world; we specialize in connecting all of them. That’s what sets us apart. Our clients don’t just receive advice—they experience coordination, precision, and strategy across every facet of their financial lives.
Then there’s Tax Family Office, which was born out of necessity. I saw too many entrepreneurs leaving money on the table simply because their tax, accounting, and advisory teams weren’t aligned. So, we built a global platform that marries high-level strategy with execution—offering everything from compliance and audit representation to complex tax planning, fringe benefit structuring, and family office setup.
What I’m most proud of, brand-wise, is that everything we’ve built under the Core and Tax Family Office umbrellas is connected by one philosophy: we don’t chase transactions; we build transformations. Every strategy, every structure, every plan we put in place is designed to reduce friction, increase efficiency, and create legacy.
We’re known for being ahead of the curve—whether that means creating modern tax-advantaged structures like Charitable LLCs and 643(e) Trusts, or integrating sustainability and philanthropy directly into wealth planning. We don’t just help clients save taxes; we help them turn those savings into impact.
For readers discovering our work for the first time, I want them to know this: we’re not your typical financial firm. We’re a collective of strategists, innovators, and problem solvers who believe wealth should serve a larger purpose—building better families, better businesses, and ultimately, a better world.
What were you like growing up?
I was curious, independent, and always questioning how things worked. I didn’t just want answers—I wanted to understand the systems behind them. Whether it was school, business, or life in general, I had a habit of seeing patterns and thinking in terms of structure and strategy long before I even knew what those words meant.
I grew up surrounded by my cousins—we did everything together. From family gatherings to weekend adventures, we were a tight-knit crew, and somehow, I always ended up leading the pack. It wasn’t intentional; leadership just came naturally to me. If something needed to get organized or figured out, I’d be the one stepping in to make it happen.
My family valued hard work, education, and giving back, and that foundation shaped me early. It taught me to combine ambition with empathy—to think big, but stay grounded. I’ve always had a builder’s mindset. While others dreamed about what they wanted to be, I was more focused on what I wanted to create. That instinct carried through every phase of my life—from starting Core Family Office to helping design global sustainability initiatives.
At the same time, I’ve always led with intuition and connection. Business, to me, isn’t just about numbers—it’s about people. That balance of structure and soul, logic and compassion, has guided me in everything I’ve built since.
