Today we’d like to introduce you to Andres Rey.
Andres, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Thymele Arts originally launched as an arts incubator in 2017 but now focuses on providing affordable rehearsal and event space serving the many creative people of Los Angeles. Starting from the first table read, to casting, and finally the big show or shoot day, our rooms are built to grow with your production’s needs.
As the Managing Director, I am a graduate of Emerson College, and I utilize my experience as an actor, producer, and content creator to help guide our guests to the best room for their specific needs. With over a decade of experience in early childhood education and Children’s Museum Management, I have a strong understanding of programming, planning, and managing large event spaces.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The 2020 Pandemic forced us to shift our model from an Arts Incubator to more general event services. But as with all challenges, overcoming them provides new opportunities! In our current state, we are now able to service a wider net of creative folks in LA beyond the Live Theatre crowd that has been and remains our bread and butter. Despite rising costs due to inflation and other outside obstacles, the need to create and share an artistic vision remains strong in Los Angeles.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am primarily an Actor and Singer-Songwriter. Back in Boston, I was heavily involved with Children’s Theater, leading a traveling acting troupe, running various afterschool programs, and teaching Theatre to kids K-2ND grade. This work led me to be a Program Manager in Los Angeles Children’s Museums before landing at Thymele Arts. As an actor I’ve appeared in several national commercials, a wide variety of short film projects, and have performed on stage in LA, New York, Ireland, Boston, and Florida. I’m most proud of the opportunities I’ve had to guide and inspire young artists. As an Emerson College alumnus, I am currently serving as a Mentor for the Emerson LA CAN program.
