Daily Inspiration: Meet Mariela Campbell

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mariela Campbell.

Hi Mariela, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My journey as an entrepreneur began over 15 years ago, but the foundation was laid when I met my husband more than 20 years ago. He’s always believed in me, encouraging me to take risks and reminding me to keep going when things got tough.

Along the way, I explored many creative paths—from co-founding an online music magazine and running a Latin music publishing company, to managing artists with placements on MTV and Viacom. It was exciting, but I realized the entertainment world wasn’t where my heart was.

When COVID hit, I found new inspiration and launched MCP’s Picnic Co., designing luxury pop-up picnics that blended my love of styling with storytelling. It was a natural extension of my photography career, which has always been the core of my work. Over the past 15 years, I’ve photographed everything from families and fashion to weddings and elopements, while also mentoring new photographers and helping wedding professionals find their place in the industry.

In 2024, I launched MCP Workshops to expand that mentorship, and in 2025, my husband and I introduced The MCP Podcast to share stories, insight, and inspiration with a wider community. Today, I continue to run my wedding photography business with my team while building spaces for creatives to learn, grow, and collaborate.

At my core, I’m a Latina/Australian woman, wife, mother, and creative—passionate about creating experiences that last a lifetime, whether it’s through the lens or through mentorship.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Like most entrepreneurs, I’ve faced plenty of pivots, setbacks, and moments of doubt. Balancing business with raising a growing family was one of the biggest challenges—I often felt stretched thin and questioned if I was on the right path.

I also had to learn to navigate industries that didn’t align with my values and to tune out the noise of comparison. Those experiences, while difficult, pushed me to find my niche in photography and build a business rooted in balance and authenticity.

Every challenge ultimately became a lesson. The hard moments shaped the way I approach my work today—with resilience, gratitude, and a commitment to creating meaningful experiences for both my clients and the creatives I mentor.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a wedding and elopement photographer, educator, and creative entrepreneur. For the past 15 years, I’ve specialized in capturing authentic, candid moments through both film and digital photography. My goal is always to create an experience where couples feel comfortable and fully present—so their photos reflect not just how it looked, but how it felt.

Beyond photography, I’ve expanded into mentorship through MCP Workshops and our podcast, helping photographers and wedding professionals build confidence and sustainable businesses. I believe in collaboration over competition, and I’m proud to have mentored many creatives who are now thriving in the industry.

What sets me apart is the balance I bring—offering both couples and creatives more than just a service, but an experience rooted in authenticity, creativity, and community.

What’s next?
Looking ahead, my focus is on growth, both creatively and educationally. I’m continuing to expand MCP Workshops, with plans to launch online courses by the end of the year, while also building out in-person workshops that combine hands-on styled shoots, classroom instruction, and one-on-one mentorship for photographers and wedding professionals.

On the photography side, I’m excited to keep evolving my wedding and elopement business, collaborating with amazing vendors, and creating timeless imagery for couples who want more than just photos—they want an unforgettable experience.

I’m also looking forward to growing The MCP Podcast in 2026, using it as a platform to connect with creatives, share stories, and inspire others in the wedding and photography industries.

Ultimately, my goal is to continue blending creativity, education, and community—helping both couples and creatives feel seen, supported, and empowered as they capture or create memories that last a lifetime.
