Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Gordy.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Sarah. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I was born and raised in Germany and moved to in Los Angeles in 2014. Since I was 15 years old, it’s always been my dream to live in the US, but I never really thought it was possible for me. So, I did what I thought was the “right thing:” I studied, in hopes that I would find a good, stable job. I was taught the importance of financial security and was advised to never ask for “more”.
I followed this path because I didn’t know any better, and as a result, I was never able to follow through with one thing. I quit law school after a couple of terms, then I started and quit another degree. I ended up graduating from journalism school only to realize that I didn’t want to work for a local newspaper, TV network, or magazine.
I hit rock bottom when the relationship with my long-term boyfriend broke down. Soon after that, I realized that I had enough of the boring, unfulfilled “autopilot life.”
I really wanted to know myself better. I wanted to discover what I stood for, what I wanted out of life, and what my purpose was. So, I made that decision to listen to my heart and to go after everything I wanted no matter how unrealistic it seemed.
I moved to LA and started a new life.
Moving my life to another continent to follow my dreams wasn’t easy, but I worked very hard to make it happen, discovering and reconnecting with the power of my inner voice in the process. This experience inspired me to study life coaching and spiritual psychology, a departure from the very structured focus I learned in Germany.
I found that combining my passion for personal development with my German sensibilities shaped me into a leader with a unique grasp on what it takes to lead a successful professional and personal life.
I founded Wings of a Visionary in 2017, I live my purpose every day by serving a community of driven, supportive, and inspiring visionaries who want to create positive change in this world. I love supporting them in stepping into their full potential and bringing their vision to life.
Has it been a smooth road?
No, not at all.
What happened in those years surpassed everything that I ever thought was possible – the positive and the negative. I experienced fear, doubt, and grief. I lost my dad unexpectedly. At times I felt confused, guilty, overwhelmed and burnt out. But in this darkness, I found light. For the first time in my life, I had a goal, a vision that was bigger than myself and this clarity helped me to keep moving forward even in the moments that I felt like giving up.
And now, more than ever, I’m convinced that if we truly follow our heart and keep going, even in the most difficult times, we will get rewarded. The Universe loves a stubborn heart.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Wings of a Visionary – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Wings of Visionaries exists to allow people and ideas to meet their highest potential.
Focusing on overcoming our inner obstacles to success is the key to conquering the world within and then the world outside.
It’s a network for heart-centered visionaries that want to make a difference in this world. It’s a platform for women that are willing to do the inner work, step forward as conscious leaders and share their gifts with the world.
As a life coach, I support my clients in breaking free from their doubts and fears so that they can courageously share their gifts with the world and have the impact they desire.
I found that combining my passion for personal development with my German sensibilities shaped me into a leader with a unique grasp on what it takes to lead a successful professional and personal life. I believe in love, connection, and community and I know that if we cooperate, together we can make the world a better place.
In addition to my private coaching offerings, I organize workshops and meet-ups here in LA and I also run a local FB group to connect like-minded women, find business partners, make friends, plan projects together, and support one another.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love the weather, the beaches, and the people here. Everybody I meet is so friendly, supportive and open-minded. No matter what you believe in and what you’re passionate about, there’s a group of people that shares the same values and welcomes you like family. Living in LA is truly magical.
I don’t like the traffic and truly miss the German Autobahn at times 🙂
