Lorenze , it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
Honestly, seeing stylists use GYEB in their own shops makes me proud. I built this from my kitchen, and now it’s sitting in other people’s chairs helping them earn more. That’s legacy — and it reminds me why I started. But what really hit me was our community events, where we gave it away and put smiles on kids’ faces. That showed me this brand isn’t just about edges — it’s about impact. We’re helping people feel good, look good, and believe in themselves again.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Lorenze, founder of Grow Your Edges Back (GYEB). The brand was born when my best friend Natalie beat cancer, but her edges never grew back and it hit her confidence. I started mixing oils in my kitchen — castor, avocado, prayer, and persistence — until we found a formula that worked. What began as a personal solution turned into a proof of concept: hair healed, confidence restored, and a community built around results. Today, GYEB is more than a product — it’s a movement. We’ve hosted community events, put smiles on kids’ faces, and created opportunities for stylists to retail and build wealth. My mission is simple: turn GYEB into a billion-dollar ecosystem where beauty professionals own their chairs, their products, and their future.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
“I think what breaks bonds is ego—pride, the need to always be right. What restores them is grace. I believe in forgiveness and grace, because that’s what keeps family, friendships, and community alive.”
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
It’s going to be okay. God is good, so don’t worry so much. Keep being yourself, and trust your ideas—they’re really good. Don’t just think them, run with them
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes. What you see in public is who I really am — but it’s not all of me. The CEO version is the disciplined, strategic, and visionary side. Behind closed doors, I’m also the friend who prays with you, the brother who cracks jokes, and the guy who will stay up all night testing formulas in the kitchen. The difference is scale, not authenticity.”
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What are you doing today that won’t pay off for 7–10 years?
I’m investing in community. It doesn’t show up immediately on a balance sheet, but the trust, loyalty, and culture we’re building will outlast any marketing campaign. Ten years from now, that community will be the backbone of our billion-dollar vision.
