Kristin, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Lately, I’ve been finding a lot of joy in taking quiet walks and spending time in nature. It’s been a grounding way to slow down and reconnect, especially in a world that moves so quickly. I’m really grateful for the space and time to do that. With so much heartbreak and devastation unfolding around the world right now, these small moments of stillness feel especially meaningful.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m an Ojai-based nutritionist, herbalist, and women’s wellness practitioner with over 15 years of experience helping clients reclaim their health and vitality through holistic healing. My work integrates principles from Ayurveda, herbal medicine, functional nutrition, and plant-based cooking. I specialize in women’s health—particularly hormone balance, fertility, and supporting women through every stage of pregnancy and postpartum.
Recently, I became a certified postpartum doula and am preparing to self-publish a digital postpartum cookbook, drawing on many years of experience as a personal and postpartum chef. As my practice continues to evolve, my passion is to support women not only during the childbearing years but through every phase of life. I believe in empowering women to heal physically, mentally, and emotionally through all seasons of life, and my goal is to offer care that truly honors the full spectrum of a woman’s journey.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
I believe that every moment, phase of life, person we encounter, and experience we have continuously shapes both who we are and who we are becoming. At our core, the essence we bring into the world remains intact—this is who we fundamentally are. Yet, the many layers of experience we accumulate, the beliefs we form through these complex and multifaceted encounters, along with conditioning from our upbringing, society, and culture, all inform our evolving perspective on the world.
Some of us naturally lean toward a more independent, radical, and open-minded way of thinking—a mindset I deeply possess. I feel fortunate to embody this approach, as it fuels a yearning for freedom from the constraints of rigid thought. Maintaining an open mind and embracing a holistic worldview is deeply important to me—one that honors the vastness of existence, acknowledging both what is known and what remains a mystery. It’s a perspective that creates space for continual growth, recognizing who we are now and who we are becoming, leaving room for an evolving worldview.
What fear has held you back the most in your life?
The fear of being misunderstood has held me back the most in life. This fear—sometimes a painful reality—has impacted many of my relationships, hindered my personal growth, and unsettled my inner peace. It’s been an ongoing journey to soothe this fear within myself through deep love, acceptance, and understanding. Ultimately, I’ve learned that the most important relationship is the one you have with yourself. True peace and healing come from the ongoing journey of fully loving and accepting yourself—and sometimes, that means letting go of those who cannot do the same.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
One of the biggest misconceptions in the wellbeing space is the idea that it should look perfectly curated, like a social media highlight reel. That if you take the right mix of supplements, your life will magically fall into place. Or that if a method doesn’t have formal scientific backing, it has no value -when in reality, some of the most meaningful healing practices don’t fit neatly into mainstream narratives — and that doesn’t make them any less valid.
Another common misconception is that there’s only one right way to heal — and everything else must be wrong. But holistic healing embraces the full spectrum of the human experience: the messy, the beautiful, the uncomfortable, and everything in between.
Holistic healing is about honoring the whole person — body, mind, emotions, experiences, etc. It also means recognizing that what works for one individual may not work for another. We each have unique needs and paths toward feeling our best.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
worrying.
